I used to love the anticipation of hearing about an album and going to the shop and finding it, buying it with hard-earned money, unwrapping it and inhaling that new album smell (yes, I used to sniff the booklets) and eagerly reading the album booklet while jamming the CD for the very first time.
Now days, I'm too money-conscious and I'll only buy an album if I absolutely like it... so I download it first to be sure. After that, the anticipation is gone and all you have is the new album smell.
And it doesn't even smell as good when you know what the songs sound like, for some reason.
I'm sure I've expressed these exact sentiments in this thread already in my own words, but I just wanted to say I agree completely with this. The last bit especially rings more true every time I buy a CD...it's not nearly as exciting when you've already heard it. I get buyer's remorse, and that sucks because I love collecting and actually owning the music.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Just to reiterate the above points, I always tell myself I'm gonna wait til the release date and go out and buy a physical copy of the album, but as the time draws near temptation gets the better of me, and I get the leaked version and I either don't end up getting the physical copy because I just forget or the album is a disappointment. I only really use my CDs in the car, I used to play my CDs on my stereo all the time but now not so much, I own about 100 CDs and it's too much of a limited collection, digitally I have about 500 albums (Not loadas, but far better than 100 CDs) I use my money on DVDs a lot more than CDs, I prefer my DVD collection to my CD collection.

Screw leaks! They piss me off. I might download the album the day it comes out, but not a day before.

I don't think I'll ever grow tired of holding a physical album in my hand. I don't buy downloads ever (unless the song/album in question is absolutely out of stock and impossible to find in a physical copy).

That happened to me three times.
Buy an external hard drive to back up your music and all will be well.

The last album I bought was The Automatics and Seth Lakeman - both gifts for people...I bought them in 2006 I believe... the rest have all be downloaded. I prefer to download them simply because I don't usually want to listen or keep all of the songs
