Unless I was into film or photo editing would be the only reason why I would ever want to buy one.

I'm always fascinated by this perception of Mac owners. Where the hell does this stuff even come from? My computer is a work computer that I bought because it was the best fit for my needs. It has nothing to do with trying to be cool or trendy and I sure ain't rich.

I don't get why people pay so much more for them instead of just getting a PC. Nothing special for the price.... So it must be just cool to have one :P

My other comp has Linux on it.... that's my Anti-Microsoft computer. But I can rarely do what I want on their besides trying to figure out wine with every program I wanna run.

On the other hand... Mac has the best editing programs out there, only thing I would ever considering getting one for.

Again, it has nothing to do with trying to be cool. You're right that a Dell or whatever would be cheaper, at least in the short term, but for me it's not worth the additional headaches it would cause. I work in an industry (print, motion and web design) where Macs are the standard and working on a Windows machine means having to deal with a bunch of compatibility issues with files. It also means that I'd have to buy entirely new suites of software, which in my case would cost several thousand dollars. Additionally, I would no longer ever be able to share any software with my peers and that would add even more cost for me. So, when all is said and done, buying that Dell or whatever would most likely wind up costing me more than buying the Mac and I'd have to deal with a bunch of headaches that I otherwise wouldn't have to worry about. Hardly seems worth it just to make sure nobody thinks I'm trying to be hip.

If you bought it for your personal computer only.... I would say you probably fit the cliche.

BTW buying a dell has its on Stereotype as well.... Ive learned my lesson dell at a very young age thankfully.

Hmm... what I said isn't really the same as what you said at all.

Damn do I really do that bad of a job of conveying my thoughts?

You said you work in an industry (print, motion and web design)

Which would be the only reason why I would ever buy one....

The Stereotype of people who use a mac for personal use to me is the people who the dark rimmed glasses and parents pay for their college and expenses. That go out and pay for an overpriced computer just to surf the web so they say they have a mac.

You are not that type.... You are the type that buys it for the ability to use its great programs like Final cut or some other program which macs are known for.

Or maybe I am just totally full of **** and I my stereotypical opinions are nothing more then my own bias showing through.

Okay, phrase it that way and we're on the same page. It just sounded from your previous post like you thought a lot of design software was somehow native to Macs, which it isn't.

I agree that there is that stereotype, I don't know how true it is overall though. Most people I know who own Macs have them because they're involved in a similar line of work to mine. Of course that may be just a reflection of the circles I travel in. :)

I hate to be a douchebag but I was genuinely wondering:
Why do people always say "I'm OCD"?
I see it all the time and it doesn't make sense to me. I know what OCD is, but the way people say it is like saying "I'm AIDS".

Is it just a generally easier way to say you have obsessive-compulsive tendencies?

Its just a phrase man..... that i think just comes about out of the ease of use.

I guess the proper way would be "I have OCD".

Damn "im aids" is a little harsh but i guess it works. I would have went with '"im ADD" for a proper comparison. I hear "IM ADD" to much.
