Currently working on getting my AAS as a computer network specialist, plus an absurd amount of certifications. Ultimate goal is to get my CCIE, which only a relatively small amount of people in the US have been able to achieve, and is the holy grail of IT certifications.
The idea is to get a job in Houston for no less than 80K starting salary, which isn't too hard in the communications field. Especially with a CCIE. Screw paying for a college degree that isn't going to pay me back.

I've got a Bachelor of Arts, I graduated from my degree last year. I was so excited about having a Bachelor's Degree, only to realise that my BA didn't really achieve anything career-wise for me.
So I'm currently working on a Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Secondary Teaching). Yay! |

I'd love to get a degree in some fancy artsy kinda thing, but I gotta go with what pays the bills. Life isn't free, regardless of whether you enjoy it or not. I just don't want to struggle, and I don't want my children to struggle. I want to make a good life for myself and my children (when I have some... I'm taking applications, btw.), and I don't think I'll be able to do that without a solid career plan.

I wish I'd gotten a higher degree. Alas, I did too many drugs near the end of high school and early college (community college), and when I finally got my ass in gear I got an associates in graphic design. Been doing well with it, but could be doing better if I had a more advanced degree.
I also wish I'd put more thought into college and the future when I was in high school, and might be doing something higher-level altogether. Eh, such is life. I've considered going back to school, and I suppose it's never too late. But I have other things to accomplish first.

I'm approaching the end of my third year of four in a Bachelor of software engineering.
I'm not sure whether I'll do a ME/PhD... there are some aspects of academia which discourage me and I guess it depends on whether I think I can contribute anything substantial to a field. I'm not even sure what I would specialise in yet. On the other hand, one of my lecturers recently headhunted me to work on his pet project over the summer so perhaps that would be a good opportunity to get a feel for research work? Regardless of whether I take it (it's a backup option), it's a weird feeling to be 'in demand' before I've graduated; a massive change from struggling to get a job as a teenager.
