Are you saying that taking down an aircraft unarmed is less of a feat than shooting one down with a weapon?

Anyways...Russia had more weapons than Germany...fact. Their production of weapons was unparalled. Maybe at the beginning of the war on the Eastern Front the Soviets were poorly armed and there were possibly not enough arms to go round. Considering the size of the Russian army...that's not a surprise to me.

I thought the Soviets played a more defensive game in WW2 than an offensive? I don't really have an extensive knowledge of WW2 but if not for their blistering cold weather, they would've lost Stalingrad.
