QFT. Survivorman>>>>>Bear.

I appreciate the work that goes into it, but in the end, it's a television show that's (supposedly) meant to give you tips on how to survive in the wild. With that in mind, I place a little more importance on the content itself than the method in which the content is put together.

That said, as far as content goes, Bear wins.

I'd actually say I prefer Survivorman in terms of content too. I think he tends to focus on things that the average person could realistically do in a short amount of time by themselves with limited tools. To me that seems more helpful.

Mainly though I just find Survivorman more entertaining. There's an element of suspense in seeing if he can make it the full seven days and I like the fact that sometimes he fails. Man vs. Wild seems more directionless and too prettied up to me.

From what I've seen of Bear's show (admittedly not much), a lot of it is just shock factor (e.g. when he bit that fish and it's guts squirted out ).

True, and I guess ordinary people won't find themselves on the Patagonian step.
I just can't stand survivorman. Once I saw an episode where the only thing he accomplished was walking a really long distance and eating something off the ground.

Ouch, if you wish for a better class of comedy then sir I will oblige.

A high school English teacher reminds her class of tomorrow's final exam.

"Now class, I won't tolerate any excuses for you not being there tomorrow. I might consider a nuclear attack or a serious personal injury or illness, or a death in your immediate family, but that's it, no other excuses whatsoever."

A smart ass guy in the back of the room raises his hand and asks, "What would you say if tomorrow I said I was suffering from complete and utter sexual exhaustion?"

The entire class does its best to stifle their laughter and snickering. When silence is restored, the teacher smiles sympathetically at the student, shakes her head, and sweetly says, "Well, I guess you'd have to write the exam with your other hand."

Heh. One of the funniest ones I ever saw was when he was on a small tropical island. Toward the end of the show he wound up saying something like, "I have to be honest, this is the easiest one of these I've done and I've never eaten so well."
