I like a lot of British slang but I have to say the whole rhyming slang thing is pretty ridiculous.

british people don't go around talking in cockney rhyming slang. You might have done (according to wiki) if you were a market vendor or pickpocket in 19th century east London. Use yer loaf me old china!

I'm know most people don't use it, but I certainly have run into quite a few people online who still seem to think it's the most hip and clever thing imaginable. And I've definitely heard it in modern movies.

yeah but all those Guy Ritchie characters are hardcore cockneys anyway. The level of exposure of Americans to British culture is so narrow you probably also think we all walk around Leicester Square talking about sausages and stuttering awkwardly. Or something. ITS NOT ON

LOL. I've been to Leicester Square so no. Unless the day I was there was an off day.

I should probably add for the record, since I know what a narrow exposure you Brits have to American culture, that I don't own a gun, a truck or a cowboy hat and I've never appeared on Jerry Springer.
