the reality of design falls much closer to project management than either programming or art. it's definitely beneficial to have a base in both aspects though as it allows you to speak with those professionals on their level. you'll deal with far more paperwork than polygons or code as a designer. basically if you're not to the point where a company is willing to hire you before you finish school (like the one guy a year after me that went to EA) then you're going to have to work your way up to that level. notice how many party games have come out on the wii.... someone has to make the crap some suit signed off on. |
