2. I'm English so I like to take the piss. Unfortunately on a predominantly American user site I have to tone down my infamous wit.
Please don't do that, I love English humor. I'm probably the only one of my friends who watches the BBC and likes it. Also, although I'm thoroughly American, my great grandparents are thoroughly English. My grandmother still has afternoon tea.

4. I have to hear a new band/artist every single day and sometimes I can hear 4 or 5 easily.
Me too. I have a notoriously short attention span and I need new brainfood in the form of music on a consistent basis.

5. I saved my youngest son's life when he was 3 months old. He had bronchialitas (it's the infant form) and stopped breathing for 30 seconds. I gave him the kiss of life.
My oldest stopped breathing, but I wasn't there. It happened during a spinal tap. His doc gave him the kiss of life. Turns out he had infant botulism.

6. Each and every day I become more of an elitist twat and believe that my musical knowledge should be wrote down and preserved for future geneartions.
I hate to admit it, but I'm a bit like that. I'm constantly astonished at the musical idiocy surrounding me.

Quote:

14. I have a very good memory and I can remember every single film I have seen yet I don't care to remember peoples names until I have got to know them a lot more.
Ditto here.

Quote:

15. I am saddened by the fact that my 15 year old son thinks my music tastes are generally crap.
Same here, except my son is 11 and thinks his taste in music is some sort of ultimate truth.

Quote:

18. Take an instant dislike to people with no manners or who are impolitefor no reason.
Yah, me too. I hate myself for it though. I feel like Dianne on Cheers.

Quote:

19. I cry at the endings in some films and have no problems admitting that.
I do that, but I'm a girl and we're supposed to be like that.

Quote:

22. I have an instant affinity with animals and children and they seem to like me too.
I know how to hypnotize crying babies (not literally) and animals won't leave me alone.

It works both ways as well, i've always known that i'm straight but if you'd have told me at 12 that i shouldn't just assume this is true is ridiculous.

Exactly my point, it goes without question that someone so young could say he liked girls but heaven forbid he should know he likes both...:\

That's interesting! I've read about people with extra sex-chromosomes and it seems not all have much effect from these. Sometimes it does have consequences (after all, what is XXY?), but I guess in your case, maybe the cells use one of the Ys and ignore the other one - as is the case with (normal) girls' XX chromosomes.

I find it intriguing that it only goes for about 30% of your cells though. Were you ever given an explanation for this?

I didn't know until one and a half year ago- my parents knew all the time but wouldn't tell me for whatever reason. It was really weird at first, you start questioning what's different about yourself. You get a whole new look on how easily things can go wrong with chromosomes. I'm lucky, but if it happens to another chromosome the effects are much worse.
In the end I read a lot about it. In the 70's or 80's people called it the crime syndrome because of some misinterpreted study. But it does have some effect on social behavior, kids tend to be more active, not that quick to the uptake, might have delayed speech etc.
and there's stuff like shaky hands (that I have), more acne, in comparison to siblings lower IQ, greater height (after all I'm 1,98m).
There are also some studies on how it might effect sexuality.

Still don't know what to think of it, but yeah, it's just not that serious. No desease or something.

30% is an estimated number. When I was born they tested some cells, and that's the average.
It's probably 25%, that would make sense considering how it happens, citation:
"In some cases, the addition of an extra Y chromosome results from nondisjunction during cell division during a post-zygotic mitosis in early embryonic development. This can produce 46,XY/47,XYY mosaics." So maybe it happend when 2 cells became 4?!

Wasn't that the plot of that movie The Accused?

Be proud of that! Judging from my experiece there's nothing taught in university you couldn't just as well read in some book yourself, and it seems that's what you do, so therefore..

I'm proud to annouce the 2009 honorary title of sheer knowledge awesomeness goes tooo..
(super long drum roll)
Pianogirl75! Congrats!

It's true, our society wants certificates everywhere (and who can blame them? it's some form of security), but you shouldn't feel insecure because of that. It's just another label we choose to accept, or not. And isn't there a chance you could do some evening school? It seems you got the mental requirements and the thirst for knowledge, you might just do it hands down?!

---1. what happens when you close the right one? You brain wouldn't allow the partial sight of the left eye?----

Yeah but I can barely see with it so in normal vision mode I don't use it. I do have to get regular check ups at the opticians. This means that my right eye has perfect vision still because it has to work harder. It honestly doesn't affect anything though and I can see perfectly and don't need glasses.
