Not meaning to troll, but to use "apotheosis" there would mean Nickelback would have achieved god-like status in regards to making music. The only reason I'm familiar with the word is that I used it in a gamertag many moons ago

Most people love to troll the Nickelback thread, because they can hurl abuse and make fun of the band and suffer no repercussions, because even the mods know how crap the band are.

Would you go so far as to say that within the realm of MusicBanter, it has become an objective truth that Nickelback suck?

Totally, I can go onto this thread and really slag the band off, wheras if I went onto say an Oasis or Blur thread and slagged them off, I'd get people laying into me and sending me hate mails.

I dont hate Nickelback, earlier material is OK. But I always thought that the Canadian band "Sloan" might be just as good, if not better than Nickelback.

That's like saying that you've heard of T-Bone steak and that it might be just as good, if not better than ground beef. Sloan is awesome.

What albums would you recommend as being their best Dave? I haven't listened to a whole lot of their music, just enough to know that I like them.
Its time to order a few new albums, Sloan would be a good band to start with.

While I'm not a big fan of Nickelback, their music does not bother me at all. I do stumble upon their music from time to time and I kind of enjoy it too. I think that no artist should be made fun of regardless of musical preferences. Just ignore and move on.
