8.8/10^. I love Yoko Kanno :D

...and lmao. Not a single one of the groups in my current top 20 is in any way, shape, or form "bad". Hell, if you go by the level of musicianship alone, 19 of the 20 groups I listed blows away Nirvana and Michael "Jacko" Jackson in spades. The only reason I have Stratovarius up there for the time being is because their particular brand of power metal is rather energizing on occasion, lol!

Learn from other people's lists to expand your own tastes. Don't piss on mine just because its a bit more diverse than yours. :P

Actually, musicianship had nothing to do with it. I just really can't ****ing stand some of the bands you listed, like faith no more and joy division. And Buckethead is brilliantly technical but can't write good SONGS unless he gets struck by lightning.

As for 'diverse', you have no idea what I listen to apart from the small sample I just gave you. Hell, I'm willing to bet my music taste is probably MORE diverse than yours if we factor in everything there.

Lol, don't even start with me on that crap. I was referring to the diversity of the lists we both posted, rather than our tastes on a whole.

If I had wanted to, I could have done my top 200 instead of what I posted here, which encompasses every known genre to mankind, but that would have been a waste of time. I just listed twenty of the groups/artists that I pulled from the top of my head on a dime in accordance to specific tastes I'm leaning towards at this time.

I have nothing against your taste in music regarding some of the artists you posted up. I think they all have merit, plus what you listen to is your business. However, its another matter entirelly when you label specific bands I listen to as "bad", even when they are fine groups in their respective genres, because that's not really fair to those bands IMO.

See the distinction? ;)

(And seriously, you gave me a freakin' 7 for three out of 20 different groups I posted up? Give me a break).

Some I hadn't heard of, some were good, nothing blew me away, and there were some bands there that as I said, I ****ing hate. 7/10. Its not changing, unless of course I make it lower by using you as representative of those groups fanbase and claim you've put me off the group even more by being, quite frankly, an overopinionated **** to me. YOU posted that list, YOU put it here for rating, I rated it and YOU are the one who can't seem to handle that.

You're taking this WAY too ****ing seriously. And for the record, I doubt your music taste is that fantastically diverse if you haven't already got thick enough skin to withstand that. I listen to videogame soundtracks, broadway musicals, music from the inventor of the Array Mbira, Progressive psytrance, and Ambient music in the vein of Tetsu Inoue and Robert Rich, among ridiculous amounts of others. I like them and thats all I care about, but on the same token, 99% of anyone in the world you play those things to, is going to think your're a fruit for liking it and will tell you so. Go on, try playing some Robert Rich to someone and see what they think of it.

Now, if my opinion is THAT important to you that you absolutely MUST be given a 10/10 otherwise you're going to bitch all night, then here, you can have a 10/10 in complete intolerance of my opinion.

Dr_Rez 11-05-2008 08:23 PM

Read The Thread Title.

Use It For That.

Mozart
Saliari
Blackfield
Porcupine Tree
Cire
EmptySelf

Anteater 11-05-2008 08:30 PM

9.5/10 ^

Mozart and Blackfield for the win! :D

GuitarBizarre: A nice, well-articulated response, but you need to chill out man. It's not worth getting so damn caustic.

Yes, I do have a diverse taste in music, but there's no need to rub yours in my face in such a confrontational manner. I knew your listening experiences were extensive before I even posted on this thread.

And so what if I have an opinion? All the more reason to give me your own, and hence the sort of conversation I enjoy is incited. You took the bait quite nicely, and for that I have to thank you. :)

7/10 was fine. I just found it a curious score in relation to everyone else on this thread. The whole "good", "bad" thing annoys the hell out of me, so sorry if you took it the wrong way...
