Rock Subgenre Quiz
Okay, I think this fits best here, so here goes.
I found this lovely quiz in my online travels. http://quizilla.com/users/soygirl/qu...all%20into%3F/ Here's my result: Indie Pop Probably the least self-referential category, you don't take yourself nearly as seriously as most indie subgenres - and that's a good thing, because you really shouldn't! You manage to stay out of the mainstream with indie ethics and a little edge that the Top 40 charts can't quite sandpaper down to stomachable. You're easy going and get along with pretty much anybody, except maybe scoffing record store clerks. As long as you stay laid back about it, you'll have more fun than the rest of us. Check out Prepare For The Fight by The Lovemakers: http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/15426004 Let's see what you all get. |

MATH ROCK
You can't think. In. Complete -- What? Ohhhhh. Sentences. Your mind switches in and out of gears quicker than you can say "Rock Beat 1," and you're a little hard to follow sometimes - but it's process, not product. After all is said and done, we know exactly what you were talking about (but usually only in retrospect). Your creativity allows you to put things together in new and different ways that the rest of us probably couldn't grasp until you actually did it - but hey, it's math rock - some of your nerd jargon will inevitably get lost in the mix. Check out Sleep is Wrong by Sleepytime Guerilla Museum and start thinking in time signatures

POST ROCK
Speak up, I can't understand a word you're saying - oh wait, I guess that's not really a matter of volume. You say very little, and when you do say something, it tends to be convoluted and/or an extended metaphor that we would only understand if we had listened to the those three tracks in reverse order twice on repeat. When we play your albums backwards, they probably contain hidden messages from the Dark Lord himself. Who needs words when you're sound is so compelling though? We're all locked in, with no foreseeable exits - but if we just let go, we'll all realize there's no way out. You're all about feeling the moment and expressing your feelings non-verbally.

We went back there and they had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile. A pile of little arms. And I remember... I... I... I cried. I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. |
