Lemmy previously worked as a landscape designer at large country estates and his dexterity with gardening equipment led to him gaining the nickname "Trowel Tornado". This nickname inspired the song. During early Motorhead gigs, people laughed at Lemmy shouting "Trowel Tornado" over the song's chorus, so he changed the lyrics to something more superheroic and had the last laugh.
