The Bomb Game
---------------------------------------------
Stats: "Microphone Fiend" Bombs: 0, Keeps: 2 "Acid Rain" Bombs: 0, Keeps: 1 "Biosfear" Bombs: 1, Keeps: 0 "Once in a Lifetime" Bombs: 1, Keeps: 0 "Slower" Bombs: 1, Keeps: 0. "Another Day" Bombs: 1, Keeps: 0 ---------------------------------------------- I've come up with an idea that will hopefully be some fun. It's also a great way to hear a lot of new music and see what others' think of your fav tunes. This is how it works: someone will suggest a song in any style of rock that they love or that they think that the average poster on MB will also love. Now if someone doesn't entirely like it they say “bomb” (for filter purposes) and must write around 50-100 words (three-six lines) about why they don't like it and then add a new suggestion. If you do like it then say “keep” and you don't have to add a reason why you like it but you can if you want to of course. Rules Once you see a current suggestion you must give your opinion of it. If you haven't heard it, hopefully the suggester will upload it (yousendit.com) for you if it isn't a well known track, or you'll have to download it. When you're suggesting it might be useful to briefly describe it as well. As soon as there are ten “keeps” the suggester wins and um...get some sort of prize and so do the ten people who said keep, to give them more incentive. The prize is a secret...(mods help me). This isn't a thread for arguing, the only posts should be keep or bomb posts. If someone wants to argue a particular post, please do so in a different thread or with pms. Mods please delete all argumentative posts. The guideline for bombing is you pretty much if you would rate the song below a 5/10. So if you think it's okay/average, that probably isn't a good enough reason for you to bomb, but you don't have to absolutely despise it. A rating below a five means you dislike it for a specific reason(s) but doesn't necessarily mean you would never want to hear it again. Only hearing a track once is okay but it would be hard to complain over it. e.g: someone has suggested smells like teen spirit reply: bomb (smells like teen spirit) I can't stand the boring melody and x and y, etc suggestion: “Lithium” by Nirvana. To make the stats meaningful, you can also give your opinions on past suggestions. But there still must be ten keeps before a bomb to win. Make sure it's set out like in the following example to avoid confusion: Past Suggestion (e.g: "Biosfear"). Bomb/keep because... FAQ 1. Isn't this going to go on forever? No one is going to be able to get ten others to agree with them here. I don't see the point with this since the person who wins could just be lucky having lots of potential bombers offline; it certainly won't represent the majority of the MB poster's opinions. Hopefully it will go on forever, and the point is for fun. 2. But you could get your death metal fan who likes nothing but, and he will just bomb everything. Don't forget that it's not that simple to bomb, 50 words is quite a lot, and hopefully each new poster will check that it's a minimum of three lines, otherwise they can disregard the post. They can also disregard the post if the three-six lines are just random statements, or any biased, immature remarks. But make sure you mention you're disregarding a bomb and give a reason. ---------------------------------------------------------- Okay I'll start with the instrumental classic from Norwegian prog-metal Gods. “Biosfear” by Circus Maximus. http://download.yousendit.com/CF533C98606878FA |

Bomb.
This sounds like, actually it sounds exactly like Dream Theater maybe a lill heavier. Maybe i'm just not a fan of this style called progressive metal but it just seems like they often sound the same with no individuality. It's an instrumental track and just seems like they are showboating with this song. I'm glad you chose one of the shorter songs Don, I'm not sure If I could last the whole 9 yards with the rest of the album. This song has one good thing about it, the drumming is impecable but that's about it. Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime |

Bomb (Once in a Lifetime).
For me to sustain interest, the music underneath has to actually change. If I only listened to the bass the whole time I'd start to go insane after subsequent listens. What also irriated me is when the lyrics kept repeating some nonsense. I wouldn't even call the vocals singing for the most part; it's just talking. I'll be nice and suggest IamAlejo's. "Slower" by Mineral. http://s42.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...4021CE87WEDZJQ Should this thread perhaps be moved to the Rock/Metal forum? |
