It's by Chet Zar, a surrealist painter around the 1970s who portrays the dark expressions of human behaviour and gives it a twist. Great stuff.

I've loved that avatar for a while now. One of the best I've ever seen in fact. It has this sorta Halloween feel to it that's just cool.

Cheers, I really like it too. It's a photo of the band Agalloch, with the deer skull they use for percussion being used as a mask. I thought it was pretty cool.

EDIT: Well, I assume its the same skull. It would be pretty weird if it wasn't.
