No you don't. Learning to appreciate things in their own context is an admirable skill.

Also, I don't think or accuse you of pretending that the show is better than it ever was, but it's clearly lost its way and you're trying to claim it's still as good as it ever was. The evidence does not support that. And once more I ask: should this discussion not be moved from this thread?

I'm on season 16 of my Simpsons re-watch and there hasn't been a huge drop off in quality yet. I mean sure the episodes might not be quite as consistent, but they're still pretty good for the most part. plan on continuing until season 28 and then I can let you all know if frown is right or not.

If you're not just subscribing to the mantra of it sucking and using your thinkbrain to decide for yourself, you'll land on my side I think.

My last word on this: I have got some incredible laughs from the Simpsons over the years; Karen and I quote it to each other daily. But the recent seasons have not been as good. That's my opinion, you're entitled to yours. This conversation is going nowhere now so I'm bailing out.
Qwert, would be interested in the end as to whether you think the quality failed eventually. Looking at season 16 I can see a whole lot of great episodes. But you have another 12 seasons to go, so ...

yeah, it'll be a little while before i get there, and i can definitely remember some ****e episodes during the 20+ seasons (seriously i swear there's been at least 25 episodes about Apple/iPads/tablets/etc) but i'll be sure to post my thoughts in the TV Show thread when I catch up.
