Nah, you have to compare it to older, classic jokes, like this one:

You do, if you're going to hold it up as an example that the show is still as good as it was. You're painting yourself into a corner here, my friend...

Also, I don't think or accuse you of pretending that the show is better than it ever was, but it's clearly lost its way and you're trying to claim it's still as good as it ever was. The evidence does not support that.

And once more I ask: should this discussion not be moved from this thread?

More like walking down the... I was gonna respond to this but I couldn't find the Conan O'Brien clothesline clip.

Well, I'm going to break the rules and judge things on their own merit if you can handle that.

It shows in your posts, especially since you're responding to points I haven't even made. I'm claiming that it is good. Not that it is on par with older episodes. This is the thirtieth and last time I'll mention that. If you can't get it through your head, it's officially on you.

Threads get derailed and I fail to give a **** about this instance.

I'm on season 16 of my Simpsons re-watch and there hasn't been a huge drop off in quality yet. I mean sure the episodes might not be quite as consistent, but they're still pretty good for the most part. plan on continuing until season 28 and then I can let you all know if frown is right or not.

Frownland 01-11-2017 02:34 PM

If you're not just subscribing to the mantra of it sucking and using your thinkbrain to decide for yourself, you'll land on my side I think.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 01-11-2017 02:37 PM

probably. I've been told the Boyhood episode they did recently was great.

Trollheart 01-11-2017 02:41 PM

My last word on this: I have got some incredible laughs from the Simpsons over the years; Karen and I quote it to each other daily. But the recent seasons have not been as good. That's my opinion, you're entitled to yours. This conversation is going nowhere now so I'm bailing out.

Qwert, would be interested in the end as to whether you think the quality failed eventually. Looking at season 16 I can see a whole lot of great episodes. But you have another 12 seasons to go, so ...

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 01-11-2017 02:51 PM

yeah, it'll be a little while before i get there, and i can definitely remember some ****e episodes during the 20+ seasons (seriously i swear there's been at least 25 episodes about Apple/iPads/tablets/etc) but i'll be sure to post my thoughts in the TV Show thread when I catch up.
