The Argument thread. (albums, beatles, REM, quote, bands)

I never said I change the station because of an REM video. I hate the band REM (I have heard plenty of their songs) because their music is crappy. I think one of their videos is the worst video I have ever seen, but that is not the reason why I would change the station. Why would I want to change a RADIO station over a VIDEO? Please kid, before you come running your mouth get your facts straight, or risk looking like a pathetic loser, trying to grasp the last bit of credibility he has left.

Hobojesus, after making your 'victory' comment that make it look like you already know that you've won, just agree with me on this one - REM's 'Shiny Happy People' video is one of the reasons why you dislike the band. Personally, I think they're very good and have three of their albums. One of my friends has all their albums. But, I know that people like different types of music and are entitled to voice their own opinions. Well, I hate the Beatles, and that's that.

The video for Shiny Happy People is why I hate their image-they are much to fake and insincere in their approach to music. Why I hate their music is a totally different matter, and one that you will never agree with me on because you are clearly an REM fan. You might hate The Beatles, but please respect what they did for music and what they are still doing for music today. Some of your favourite bands wouldn't exist today if it wasn't for The Beatles. Even though I am not a big fan of their music, I don't go round being disrespectful to them, and you shouldn't do that either. They did more for music than you could EVER imagine or achieve.

That's very true. And I know that a lot of modern-ish songs are copied from ideas originally thought up by The Beatles. I was joking when I 'disrespected' them, because I know that they're a very successful band, and have produced some good music. I don't like it that much, that's all.

Urban, I didn't know that even the most die hard REM fans hated that song. I was under the impression they loved it, seen as it is one of their most successful songs. LukeM uk, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, and well done for actually managing to have a civil argument unlike most of the people on this forum. And Mr Sensitive, we all know that a LOT of things amuse you on this forum. Like pretending you're married, then pretending that who you are married to is some porn slut, then saying she's not married to you at all she is just your friend.
