As I said in an earlier post, Amber may be their most accessible so I'd say go for that.

'Amber' is from their accessible ambient phase, for sure, however for me it's a bit dull and doesn't really give a true insight into their "sound" or at least the sound they've been exploring the last 15 years or so.
For me the best intro is definitely 'Tri Repetae'. It has that harshness about it, is accessible enough (at least as far as they go!) and also for me their best LP. |

So for anyone wanting to try Tri Repetae...the US version came as a double CD called Tri Repetae++, but I'd suggest starting out with just the first CD, the album proper.

There are a handful of fake albums circulating. The real thing has likely not leaked yet.

I downloaded a few of the leaks for future listening, because I hear they are good, but I refuse to listen to them until I get the real album. I wouldn't want one of the leaks to turn out real and ruin the surprise for me.

A free Autechre Mix was just released yesterday, if anyone's interested. I just started playing it now. Apparently there's hip-hop, breakcore, and other stuff.

Wow that was seriously awesome...good link.
I haven't heard much Autechre, but that wasn't what I was expecting at all. That was quite a crazy mix, with all the hip-hop and electronic mixed together...and when that death metal song got mixed in outta nowhere I was like "". I didn't know any of the songs I don't think, so a tracklist woulda been cool, but whatever. Best part on here to me was the mixing of the two songs going on at 49:00-50:00. Do you happen to know the name of the song right after the 50 minute mark by any chance? The song at the 72 minute mark was great as well. Last edited by Dieselboy; 02-09-2010 at 06:50 PM. |

Yeah this mix is not at all Autechre's style as far as their albums go. There are a few parts here and there that are more aligned, but for the most part, no. I'd have to re-listen to see if I recognize the music in the times you mentioned. Here are some tracks that have been identified on another forum (which doesn't make them 100% accurate):
16:09 > Q-Tip & Free Murda "Just a Lil Dude (Who Dat Ovah There) " 19:32 > J Dilla "Won't Do (instrumental)" 23:10 > Black Milk "Danger" 28:04 > Black Milk "Sound The Alarm" 42:06 > Percee P "Throwback Rap Attack" 45:00 > Tuff Crew "Behold The Detonator" 47:00 > Ultramagnetic Mcs "Break North" 50:00 > Strafe Set "It Off" 52:50 > Necrophagist "Diminished to be" 56:26 > Bernard Parmegiani "Ondes Croisées" 1:07:55 > Meat Beat Manifesto "Radio Babylon" Before that last one are parts of "Dogstar Man/Helter Skelter" also by Meat Beat Manifesto, not sure start time. But to me that track is much more noticeable than "Radio Babylon", unless it's a remix I've never heard.
