Anyone like Jean Michel Jarre? He's a french pioneer of electronica music. His Oxygene and Equinoxe stuff is great.

Oxygene contrasts to bands such as the futuristic sound of Kraftwerk, and sort of murky sound of Tangerine Dream. It has a strongly melodic sound. His second album Equinoxe incorporates more rhythmic elements, and a greater use of sequencing on bass lines.

Electronic music would not be the same, without Jean Michel Jarre. And to this day, no one has equaled his live show. If you don't believe me, hunt down a copy of his Houston concert CD. The entire downtown skyline was backdrop to the concert.
Groundbreaking stuff... |

Jean Michel Jarre's music is the closest thing to how I'd conceptualize alien music that humans could appreciate. It's clearly melodic and lovely, but has a sortof haunting, alien tinge to it.
Great stuff.

Tangerine Dream wipe the floor with JMJ and are far more influential. JMJ is certainly more popular but it is fairly traditional fare when compared to the Electronica that was a part of Krautrock.
