Well one of the label heads at Warp has already said earlier this year that there was a new album in the works for 2010. The fact that this article is saying "imminent" is interesting, but they're not saying anything concrete or backing it up in any way so it's not really news, unfortunately.

Everytime I say I'm into electronica Aphex Twin gets rammed in my face. I try so hard to get into him, but when I put his music on, I don't find myself listening. If that makes any sense. I want to like his stuff so much, but just can't tune in.

Have you heard his first album? It's his best album, IMO.

I don't think it would appeal to kayleigh, though. She seems much more into the danceable side of electronic music. So I'm not sure what Aphex material would suit her. Maybe the Analord stuff?

The 10th one is the best, IMO. not really danceable but it's my favourite.

Yeah, check out some of the earlier analords!

Not necessarily, I like quite filthy and heavy electronica right now. As well as trancey stuff :).

then try Selected Ambient Works Volume 1. it's about the most straight forward / least tweaked beyond measure of his albums. i know that sounds counter-intuitive but it's busier and heavier 'ambient' definitely more beat based. Volume 2 is more traditional space out ambiance.

Yeah, if you can't get into this album I doubt you will get into any of them. Selected Ambient Works is like an Aphex Twin warmup.

I have a feeling if I were to listen to SAWI for the first time today, I might not appreciate it as much because the production seems so dated. It didn't seem that way in the mid 90s when I first heard it.

i still listen to it now and again as pass out music, though SAWII is a much better fit for sleeping. you're right that it sounds dated but not nearly as bad as the first Prodigy album hehehe.
