Default The most influential house artists?

Hello everyone,

lately I've been interested in house music. I listen a lot to house compilations on YouTube. So I think it's quite natural to ask - who are the most influential artists in this particular genre? You know, artists like AC/DC in rock music, Michael Jackson in pop, Oasis in britpop... you get the idea. I'd be most thankful if you guys could get me something like introduction to house music.

Thank you in advance.

First that comes to my mind thinking about house music - David Guetta, Fedde le Grand, Benny Benassi, Faithless, Paul van Dyk, Knife Party, Tiësto, Dada Life. Some names Frankie Knuckles as the founder of the house music.

If you're concentrating on the beginnings and
you're not all that concerned with Footwork, Lofting,
Jacking, etc., then, yes, every list on House begins
with Frankie Knuckles followed by Ron Hardy,
Marshall Jefferson, Kym Mazelle,
Farley Jackmaster Funk, Mr. Fingers,
and a whole bunch more. You may want to check out
the three guys who made up the original Phuture as well.

Maybe in your country it started in 1990,
but it started in the late 70s/early 80s in my country.
How you can mention "countries that [were] pioneers"
and not mention its home - the US - is just beyond me
[also "Detroit" is a city - just like Chicago (where House started!!!)].
Not only is this a well-known fact, but I was there -
DJing in Chicago clubs and on radio right in the middle of it.

I'm surprised none mentioned Carl Cox and Pete Tong.
