Is it me, or is EDM in general extremely faceless?

Wikipedia says it has production value of Disco.

I think it's faceless because its supposed to be universal. Anyone can enjoy it, dance to it, lose themselves in the beat, etc. The opposite would be Classical music where the composer, performer, conductor, etc. all have names and faces made very obvious to the audience.

I'd say stuff like David Guetta/Avicii is rather faceless music, because anyone can do that sort of music very easily and get a lot of attention for it. Though there are a lot of EDM artists that are very distinct and can make emotional/unique music that isn't just about "the beat". Personally I hate the whole David Guetta side of EDM...

I would say that that the peak of EDM is anything but faceless. The PR behind these producers is pushing them out into the general consciousness. The music might be slightly generic (if you listen to Guetta exclusively). Pretty sure a lot of people would recognise your average superstar DJ these days, especially in Europe.

A little off topic, but eastern europe is a cesspool of the worst EDM music I have ever heard. Sort of like Africa and their really bad rap music.

Since EDM was made for people to move to the beat, I'm really sure that it's pretty faceless (and also meaningless).

Did you just call Daft Punk terrible EDM music? I think you meant to post your reply in the Unpopular Music Opinions thread...

I wouldn't say 'faceless' would be the correct term to use. More like 'egoless', which isn't a bad thing at all.

It's only faceless if you're not into it. I know the names and faces of all my favorite producers. Or am I misunderstanding what exactly this thread is about?
