just bought Endtroducing. my god- how good is this album? up there with MA's mezzanine in terms of trip-hop. too many great songs too mention. anyone else got the album? what do you think?

SATCHMO 06-10-2005 11:13 AM

Love it. Preemptive Strike is very good too

Tommyrocker 06-11-2005 01:23 PM

For a Guy called Josh Davis it's not too bad. Mutual Slump & Midnight In A Perfect World Are only songs i myself would classify as above average.

SATCHMO 06-11-2005 01:28 PM

Iv'e asked this question before: what's the song on preemptive strike thats really slow and mellancholy that has a guy singing something like "chances are" in the background?

SATCHMO 06-11-2005 05:43 PM

I found it. Its "What Does Your Soul Look Like Pt. 1".

isnt amazon good. surprised you like this at all if you hate massive attack. he dwells even deeper into trip hop.

just because you dont like a certain band in a genre doesn't mean you hate all of it - e.g. rap i dont like it but some of eminem and tupac etc i can get around

Sneer 06-16-2005 01:00 PM

there isnt as much variation in trip hop as there is in rap but yeah spose. you get any of his other albums?!

Sneer 06-16-2005 01:05 PM

i thought six days was like one of his sweetest tracks. the lyrics really get to me and im just lovin the sounds he makes as well

Sneer 06-22-2005 08:36 AM

also, "buliding steam with a grain of salt" and "organ donor"......how can those songs be average?

Zenith 06-22-2005 05:48 PM

I tried to take a listening to this guy. "What Does Your Soul Look Like {pt.3}" started downloading, but only got like 2% complete. That was a damn good 2%, though.

Zenith 06-22-2005 06:01 PM

I just got DJ Shadow vs. Ian Brown "Dolphins were Monkeys". I dig. Alot.

Jonny Sniper 09-10-2005 02:03 PM

im listening to it right now. midnight in a perfect world, is the tune playing. i have to admit it is quality.

cane creek 09-14-2005 04:46 PM

i thought Preemptive Strike was very disappointing compared to entroducing

Rainard Jalen 03-03-2008 02:54 PM

Right. Nobody's said shiz here for ages, so I will.

DJ Shadow. Endtroducing. If you've never tried it before, please please just get it NOW! It's an unbelievable album with merits beyond anything I can describe. You will not be disappointed. Just get it. Hmmmm?

adidasss 03-03-2008 03:15 PM

And if we do end up being disappointed, what then I ask you?

I'll consider it my punishment to listen to "St. Anger" 40 times on full blast.

you end up having bad taste....

I dig DJ Shadow. Endtroducing is fantastic, the other stuff is good, and the Outsider just confuses me, still.

Also really like his stuff with Cut Chemist, the 7" sets. Brainfreeze, Product Placement, and the Hard Sell, if you haven't already.

Frewen 03-16-2008 02:19 PM

^Yeah those are awesome. His early stuff with the Solesides Crew is also excellent and worth checking out: I love the beats he does to Lateef's The Wreakoning, for example.

zubitrionique 03-25-2008 02:17 AM

The new album was a brave attempt

At least he's trying to move forward in new directions and make fun music still.

abrocks22 03-26-2008 01:15 PM

I agree, not too crazy about the most recent

SubPop 03-31-2008 06:41 AM

Everyone goes on about entroducing, which is fair as it is great but I also love "The private press"

Malicious Wakizashi 04-08-2008 07:00 PM

DJ Shadow is good stuff. His collaborations with Cut Chemist are
pretty good, esp The Hard Sell, though I don't really like Cut
Chemist. J5 is dope, though.

I've been trying to get David Holmes Bow Down To The Exit Sign
and DJ Shadow vs. Ian Brown "Dolphins were Monkeys" with not
much luck. Could someone possibly help me out?

djkikis 05-20-2008 08:35 PM

DJ Shadow is the Greatest.

To all those hip hop fans out there! Just wanna share my undying love for DJ Shadow an' his music. I think he's a true genius, not just in the hip-hop (or some might argue the trip-hop or ambient) world but in music just in general.

I just saw his Live in Tune and in Time DVD. And it's mindblowing. The guy's a bloody genius.

One of ma favorite songs from him would be..

Blood on the Motorway .. and a more beatsy one would be Walkie Talkie.

DJ SHADOW RULES

djkikis 05-20-2008 10:13 PM

Have any of guys heard his Essential Mix for BBC Radio One? I think it was in 2003.

It's crazy. That's how i first heard about him, so good..

supremepenguin 05-30-2008 01:53 AM

only song of his I've heard is Organ Donor but I loved it

ployd 11-27-2008 01:48 PM

would this thread be made by Stu from C4C???

If so then WHAT UP UNCLE STU!

Classic Album. Private Press is also good. Stay away from Outsider, its too much hyphy.

joeybarten 08-24-2013 06:49 AM

DJ Shadow

Endroducing - what a great record anyone dig this ****?

joeybarten 08-25-2013 10:35 AM

Been checking out the other albums and I like the earlier stuff best.
I got onto Shadow via this album bellow by Chop Illuminate.
It features shadows live drummer all over it. I wouldn't know how best to describe it other than mutated electronica I guess....

Saw him in Sydney @ We Love Sounds 2008 - the rest of the bill was mainly made up of electro/house/tech acts... he was aware of this and gave the crowd a cool disclaimer on the mic before he began his set... which was amazing... hope he tours again soon.

thegaffer 05-13-2015 04:28 PM

so entroducing was quality --- I was so eagerly awaiting The Outsider.... but so disappointed. I'm guessing there are other out there who felt the same. But would be curious to hear from people who liked it - what did you like about it?
