How are you with making music in general, do you play any instruments, do you know any music theory? Not that it is essential but it does help if you've got a bit of grounding.
There are lots of programs that big names use. You might want to look at things like FruityLoops, Propellerhead Reason and Cubase. Reason is great because it won't take up too much of your CPU but it takes a bit of know-how to craft a really sexy sounding mix. To be honest, that's true with all of these programs and I haven't used Reason since 3.5 (it's like 6 now?) but there are so many tutorials and places online to help you out with crafting a nice sounding track. Hope that helps a bit. There's a lot of research and homework to do but hopefully others here can help too! |

I started out using cubase, which is a good program! Then later i discovered Ableton live, and ive been in love with it ever since! with all programs there is alot of work to do, to learn how to use them. but once i learned ableton it is very easy to use, and very easy to handle plugins - effects and such things.
