Default Diary of Dreams

Anyone listens to them? It's a german darkwave/electronic/rock project from Germany. It's one of my all-time favourites. The band had three stages in their musical development. Early one can be described as darkwave but with unique feeling of DoD. The songs here are very depressing but atmospheric. The middle stage belongs mainly to industrial/electro. Then they changed their sound into a more gothic rock-oriented one. They always use more guitars live than in studio so their songs get pumped up in this way. One of the main things that characterizes DoD is a beautiful voice of the founder of this project, Adrian Hates. I can't post any links here yet but there is YT and other stuff and it is not a problem to find something from them.

My recommendations for checking up would be:

From the early period:
To Conquer the Angel's Laugh
Aphelion
Tears of Laughter
Never!Land

The middle one:
Butterfly:dance!
Colorblind
Panik?
Psycho-Logic

The last:
The Wedding
Wahn!sinn?
The Colors of Grey
Momentum

DoD has many songs that don't exactly fit any particular genre and because of that and the thing that they changed their sound a lot I had a hard time picking a proper section for them on musicbanter. I also made this artificial three-stages division but in fact there is such a variety of sounds in DoD that it is not really that obvious.

A quick guide through DoD's discography (longplays and mini-CDs):

Cholymelan - decent
End of Flowers - a good, solid album
Bird Without Wings - first really great album by DoD
Psychoma? - a masterpiece which is 10/10, my absolute favourite
One of 18 Angles -another really awesome piece of work, if only the ending was better...
Panik Manifesto - no change, still really impressive
Freak Perfume - a good album, somehow overrated anyway
Nigredo - their second best, better than O18A but still a little worse than Psychoma?
Menschfeind - a good album with some really great songs
Nekrolog 43 - starts good but then fails miserably, it is not the worst now, but had been after its release.
(If) - a good album, quite overlooked
Ego:X - avoid this piece of s*** at all cost
