What do you think of Moby?

I don't know too much about his music. Actually I'm listening to him for the first time as I write this post. I know he's considered popular, but I wanted to know what you guys thought of him.

By the way, I'm listening to Moby's "Honey". :thumb:

Early Moby, goooood. Later Moby, baaaaad.

Eltiraaz 02-23-2004 02:06 PM

Yeah for the most part I agree. Before the release of
"Play" he was at his peak. After that he started to sell all his songs to commercials. He has played a huge influence on mainstream electronica. I actually found out that when he was in his teenage years he was part of a punk outfit, which is pretty cool. I think he is musically well rounded.

"in this world" is one of his better new songs.

Was Moby in a punk band? Was the band any good? The only thing I liked by Moby was his cover of Mission of Burma's "Revolver". That song kicks ass. I think he did a good version IMO. I think he's a talented guy, but I'm not into his music. I would probably like his earlier stuff. His commerical stuff just sucks.

Dr. Luncheon Man 03-17-2004 07:28 PM

Yeah i like him. He is a very talented dude. Its true he did start in a punk band but i don't know what they were called

I like the Play album the best, Its mad to chill too. I also like how he uses old old blues samples in his music on that album. That song "go" is also mad.

Eltiraaz 03-18-2004 10:44 AM

He was in three bands before he hit twenty. He was in bands called the Vatican Commandos, Flipper, and Ultra Vivid Scene.

My hippie hero Chong said on national tv that he has quit smoking pot...Are there any true heroes left?

gongadin 05-04-2005 03:10 AM

He was listenable to start off with, but now he's just rubbish, oh and by the way he said on entertainment now that he would be releasing some not-so-good songs on his next album, get ready for him to get even worse.

OccultHawk 01-16-2021 01:44 PM

Long Ambients 1: Calm. Sleep.

Is unassailable

Psychedelic Revolution 02-23-2021 07:45 AM

"Nobody listens to techno."
No seriously though, I like 'Natural Blues' and 'Extreme Way's a lot. The new song with Skylar Grey is also really good.

Ooooh lawdy, trouble so hard, ooooooh laaawdy, trouble so hard.

GhostyTowno 02-27-2021 08:49 AM

I don't know anything about Moby and I've never listened to his discography. I think I listened to a singular album once years ago. However, my favorite song of all time just so happens to be by Moby.

Tristan_Geoff 02-28-2021 12:28 PM

Idk...

I feel 'eh' about Moby

Animal Rights is a good album though
