This is almost the equivalent of Honey Boo Boo being popular.

Bad novelty records that sell by the truckload have been around since the dawn of time, I wouldn't read too much into it.

He can work with as many producers as he likes, he's yesterdays news. Those people that did like that song liked exactly that .. the song.

I doubt they give 2 shits if the guy singing it has another another out. When was the last time someone had 2 novelty hits in a row? I can't think of any and if there is some people who have I bet it'll be a really short list.

Gangnam Style was nothing more than The Macarena for 2012. This guy won't be troubling the music scene or the charts again.

I'll give you the The Macarena for 2012 part only for the dance of it but as far as troubling the music scene. The difference is he's more talented than just a one hit wonder. He has had five albums released already. I highly doubt that he will just going to drift off now that he has all the popularity from Gangnam Style. For the people that don't like him he will be sticking around like an annoying gnat.

I look at it this way. There are times I listen to the most ghetto of rap music strictly for the lulz. Its not something you can take for more than a few minutes but you gotta have fun every once in awhile. I think America is having its fun and soon this will disappear.

I must admit I had some fun with that new one "Right Now". I didn't know he had any other music cus I never cared enough to look into it.

He may be more talented than a lot of one-hit wonders, but I feel that some of the recent controversy about "Dear American" has cooled off a lot of interest in him Stateside to the point where he will only be mentioned in reviews on 2012 in my opinion. Whatever his level of talent, he made it big enough with a no-brainer of a song that The US will possibly just shove him off of the Pop Culture map even if there was a story behind the hit - always happens. As for the rest of the world, we'll see.

Even Weird Al, the modern king of the Parody/Novelty record in the US usually had to wait until the next first single off an album to make a hit. It's all in the timing - make big with well-timed Parody hit, bring out the album that will hit for a couple of weeks, release second smaller single, wait a year or two until you know most people have forgotten about you, repeat reminding them that there is another parody record by Weird Al.

I personally find it to be very catchy and easy to like, nothing wrong with that. He performed it live on New Years, and I thought that the performance with MC Hammer was pretty damn cool.



I have no problem if this song stays a hit, it's obviously very popular considering it's the first video on Youtube to hit 1 billion views.

Yeah, I heard about the mash-up performance. Let's just say this - The Billion View Video was at least Psy's fluke worldwide smash instead of Rebecca Black's "Friday." Black cornered herself with that pile-up of garbage while at least Psy can at least continue being a personality somewhere with at least some talent.

Oooo I didn't know about the "Dear American" song stuff. I had to look it up. :yikes: Whatever he does next people will be comparing it to gangnam style which is a shame but at least he will be referred as the gangnam style guy and anyone that had interest will check out his next projects even if they don't like it just because of the song. He'll be able to ride the fame from it.

Now this guy is more of a Novelty hit and will probably only have this to his name.
