The minute I finished listening to that track, I stopped being interested in Skrillex. It actually brought me to the point of angry. I guess the worst part is the majority of his fans probably don't know DJ Shadow, or Organ Donor, and so it's gotten away with. On a couple of these youtube videos of this track, sometimes there are comments by users clarifying that its a DJ Shadow track/sample, but they're not even upvoted. :/ It wouldn't surprise me to go to Organ Donor on youtube and have comments like, "Hey, this is a Skrillex song, WTF?" But what can you do?
I just wonder if DJ Shadow is aware of this... |

I've recently discovered Skrillex.
He's extremely mainstream, but I enjoy some of the stuff he does. I'm not too sure about his chronological progression in the genre as i've "commandeered" works of his at different times. He's catchy... then again, i also listen to Avril Lavigne on occasion ;-) |

Not sure why everyone says he's dubstep, he's more progressive house with silly noises.
Dubstep = Dub + 2step garage Dub ---> Sub-bass and atmospheric feel Step ---> Distinctive percussive beat. 140bpm, 4/4 rhythm, kick on first beat and snare on 3rd or some minor variation Skrillex has little in the way of either of those That concludes my being a pedant

Excellent, THIS! ^

Shoot that wasn't even me. Someone else obviously agrees with me. Hell, he might not even be referring to the song I am. This could be something Skrillex does often! I didn't even bother listening through his discography, so I couldn't tell you if there are more examples besides Amplifire, but that was the third or fourth track I checked out. Who knows if I'd listened to 50+ |
