Sonny Moore
Once a part of From First to Last, Sonny Moore and his band were the perfect definition of what many consider to be "emo":
After Sonny quit, he decided to move on to what he says was his true passion, electronica. Although his style of singing has not changed a bit, which I love, his style of music definitely has. I have yet to listen to a good chunk of his music to give my opinion. I can definitely say that when "emo" was my thing, I was not at all happy to hear Sonny's new music. Now that I'm a bit more open minded and now that he's made more than just a few first songs, I can safely say I'm liking what I'm hearing, and that it does bring me back to my high school days when I would listen to Sonny's voice in From First to Last all of the time. Has anyone else listened to Sonny Moore's music? What do you guys think? Here are the songs I've listened to tonight: Like I said, I like his voice. And I know it may be a little too post-hardcore (is that the genre?) or scene for most of the people here, but let me know what you think nonetheless. I'm not a fan, I actually just listened to these songs today and I began to wonder what everyone else would think about this. Last edited by Arya Stark; 01-04-2011 at 12:56 AM. |

Sorry, is that better?
Yeah, I probably should have posted the names of the songs and I'll edit that now. You coulda just quoted my post and found the link in the embed code, tho. ;] And CanwllCorfe, what do you mean "go back to," is this stuff older and the Skillrex newer? Cause from what I heard, the song "Lustbug" is new. May be false info though. |

Well most of the stuff he released as Sonny Moore is a bit older, cause I think he's had his Skrillex alias for only about a year. I'm not sure about Lustbug as I'm only familiar with the stuff he's made as Skrillex. There's not too big of a divide really, it's all fast paced and dancey. That being said though, the stuff he makes as Skrillex seems a bit more oriented for certain scenes. Some of it sounds like pure Electro, and some of it sounds like pure Dubstep. Pretty much, it's his DJing alias.

Ah. Not really sure about dubstep. What are some good examples?
I'm really bad with genres. |

Well there's stuff like:
Which is nicknamed "wobblestep", to distinguish it from the original kind of Dubstep: Wobblestep is HUGE right now. Especially with Skrillex and Deadmau5 starting to create it. The original kind is insanely hard to find, and isn't nearly as popular. |
