Raime - Quarter Turns Over A Living Line is a pretty ****ed up good album.

This goes here. The studio version is gold, but there's something about this being played live that makes it even more powerful. My kind of ambient.

Such a hypnotic bassline:

the caretaker - recollected memories from the museum of garden history
the dead texan - aegina airlines field rotation - and tomorrow i will sleep motion sickness of time travel - binah pausal - song from a cloth pocket Spoiler for all here:

I'm new to the forum, and I'm happy to find an active ambient thread.
I'm building a collection of the milestones of the genre - vinyl when I can get it, and FLAC for my archive. And I'm particularly a fan of the Berlin School of ambient electronic music. All-time favorites include: • Peter Namlook's FAX +49-69/450464 label and the recent tribute box set • Gas (Wolfgang Voigt)'s Nah Und Fern LP set • Klaus Schulze's discography, including the 50-disc Ultimate Edition (favorites include the debut, Irrlicht and the "X" double LP) • William Basinski's incredible 9LP + 5CD + DVD Disintegration Loops box set • Popol Vuh's Hosianna Mantra LP (beautiful neo-classical choral music) • The Orb's Adventures Beyond, Blue Room EP, and Metallic Spheres with David Gilmour • Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Vol II 3LP set • Pantha Du Prince's glitchy ambient This Bliss LP • BoC's Music Has the Right to Children 2LP • Original pressings of KLF's Chill Out and Cauty's Space LP • and the lesser-known but equally-important Black Swan vinyl-only issued drone LPs It's honestly refreshing to see users who appreciate and enjoy ambient music. Cheers! |
