Default Mimosa

After spending ages stuck to dubstep, I've come across Mimosa. Some fine stuff.

<-- Kinetic, off their Hostilis album

this isn't really dubstep at this point.. i've heard it being called glitch? is this correct? and who are some artists like this??!?

It kind of reminds me of Tipper's album Wobble Factor for some reason. He usually gets labeled under IDM or glitch so I'd be more inclined to file this artist under that same label. Then again I'm not really up on the defining characteristics of electronic music so my opinion probably isn't worth much. Still it's a pretty decent song (far better than that Autechre album I downloaded yesterday).

Never heard of this guy. But as LoathsomePete said, it's a little reminiscent of Tipper who is often classified as IDM but isn't strictly IDM. I would really not call this glitch at all, there's not much of a trace. It does have elements of instrumental hip-hop for sure (as does Tipper), and a lot of the recent stuff also gets assigned the glitch-hop label...but this isn't quite there. Definitely some dubstep-style bass in here, but it's important to note that this dubstep-style bass was around before the term dubstep.

I would suggest the artists Kelpe (albums: Ex-Aquarium, Cambio Wechsel) and Architeq (Gold + Green). Both incorporate all of the elements mentioned above and I find them difficult to classify for that reason.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
