Favourite non-dance electronic tune of the moment?
You know, the stuff not necessarily meant for the dance floor. Whether it's IDM, downtempo, nu jazz, trip hop, industrial, ambient, whatever. Electronic music for the head and not the dance floor. Some is still dancey of course, but you know what I mean. Not trance, house, etc. What track's doing it for you at the moment? YouTube vids encouraged.

Here's one I've enjoyed a lot over the last few years, to get started.
|
Ambient + traditional Native American music + maybe a little bit of jazz:
|
Nice thread! My library isn't too great in this respect but I like these at the moment.
|
Yay! I am a HUGE Plaid fanboy. Exactly the kind of stuff I'd be posting in this thread. :thumb: I downloaded the Warp20 (unheard) that this track is on, but have only played it once so far. Nice track. Can't wait for them to finally release their new album.
Never heard of Williams, not bad. A bit on the house side but it's chill, slower and I like the low bass. |
|
Pretty nice song, I haven't listened to any múm before. I think I always assumed they were post-rock. Not that that has kept me from listening to them, I do listen to post-rock. I see that this is a remix though, maybe their normal studio work is less electronic?

Itself a re-imagining of a track from another soundtrack of theirs (Thief). Great tune. Fantastic Czech band for me: How good was this album?: |
I downloaded that Ecstasy of Saint Theresa album recently but I haven't played it yet. I've only heard the track that was part of a monthly comp recently.
And why are you putting rap in here? :p: |
Nice songs in here. I like that Plaid song alot as well, VERY chill.
^Has been getting stuck in my head like crazy lately. |

Haven't listened to it yet. ;) I was just surprised since it's a hip-hop track...you should have said something about the beats!

Currently digging this.
I don't know what the hell that picture is all about. |
Currently playing this album, and this track just came on. The song is responsible for getting me hooked on this artist a few months ago, when the single/EP was released.

I liked the Kelpe song alot though, thats not bad :) |
It doesn't help that the "ghost of a cow/dog with pimply butt-cheeks" song is pretty compressed, I only have it on mp3 but the bass is much more impactful than the compressed version in the video. Still, just a chill song...nothing mind blowing.
|
Was just listening to this song. Its just a really laid back tune that never fails to put a smile on my face. Love the bass line. |

I've listened to Luna City Express - Orange Soft-Cake a lot over the weekend but unfortunately I can't find a link for it. Their sound is deep house usually but this is downtempo and probably deserves more credit than it will get. |
I am you By Shpongle
I don't have enough posts yet to post the video, check it out on youtube. |
Maybe this should go in the "dance tune" thread...I'm not entirely certain on this, but oh well. Read about this song on Pitchfork a few days ago and absolutely LOVE it.
Song doesn't start till 15 seconds in, but jeez...this song is just so dirty...in more ways than one. So good. :) |

Someone recommended this song to me. Just listen :) |

I have posted this before but this recent album which is basically a collab between DJs Diplo and Switch is groovy as fuck:

"Listen to the Future" by Free the Robots
I listened to their EP as I was driving through a snow storm last night, did a very good job at calming me down. |
Those both sounded very good while staring at my tropical desktop wallpaper. I need to get more music with Xylophone's :P
|
Will be checking out the above posted vids...but for now, I'm enjoying this tune from the album From The Double Gone Chapel by Two Lone Swordsmen.
|
At the moment...
Sixtoo - Jackals and Vipers in Envy of Man/Part 2 Stendeck - The Day I Saw You Cry For The First time A classic album |

You know he's done making music under that alias, right? :( |
Checkout his Brutal Funk E.P from 2007. I need to get some more of his stuff. |
That was tasty.
|
Been listening to some stuff by an artist called Nucleya lately. A dubstep producer with a lot of Indian style and influences in his music. Of his stuff this song really sticks out to me though.
The youtube description says, "An old indian classical composition, Re-done in a cinematic / classical / dub step style. Vocals by Shruti Pathak and Shane Solanki." I think it's very cool. :) |
I was diggin' this on my headphones at high volume yesterday.
|
How did I not notice this thread before?!
As of this moment, probably this one... Quote:

Yes, it is horrible. Just as most dance and house music is. Trance, imo, is too expressive (or "emotional" if you will) to be danceable. In any case, here's a song far from the dance floor |
