Checking out the first vid now...I like it. Reminds me of a lot of the mellow IDM I listen to, but with some deep house flavor. It's been ages since my deep house phase, and it's refreshing to hear it with a bit of an IDM twist.

This stuff is good and I like it too! I just love the ambience that they create and when I close my eyes I imagine the sun rising over the horizon of the Mediterranean, which equals perfect in my book :yeah:

Thanks for sharing! Brightened my Monday up :)

glad you folks enjoyed it!

yeah the first tune, Love Me Like This....always puts me in a great mood. good to get down and dance to, as well as sit back and reflect.

I've desided to necro this thead

Floating Points release an EP on 20 May and IMO it's gorgeous!

Here's the title track live

Promises by Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders & The London Symphony Orchestra.

I didn't get as much Pharoah as I'd have liked, but this is still really great for those late nights where you slowly down the 4th cocktail, staring into the void and wondering where it all went wrong.

It's a nice sounding album for sure but I just don't see where the heaps of praise are coming from.

Sounds like you get it. It's just like, really nice. Floating Points carries it imo, you could remove Pharoah and this would be just as good of a listen.

To me I liked it but I felt that it took forever for it to progress, like three songs in there were probably 8ish notes pharoah even plays, but I did like Floating Points contribution and I like their future garage stuff pretty well also.

Yeah same. I honestly feel like a real outlier when it comes to electronic music in general because it sounds like if you do anything with less than 118 BPM everyone loses their mind. Same thing with the last few Nick Cave records. Like, what is this ****? If I play notes, hold them over other random electronic noises, suddenly I'm a genius.

I'm happy to sit this zeitgeist out.

What? I have no interest in making electronic music.

Frownland 04-19-2021 07:05 PM

You shouldn't deprive us of your genius, especially if it'd be so easy.

Did I do something to you at some point? You always seem to unnecessarily hostile, even when there's really no reason.

For example, I think most people reading:

Would understand that I wasn't implying I was a genius. But you still read it the way that allowed you to take a swipe at me. Even on a topic that, given your previous comment, would probably be inclined to agree with me.

So what's the issue?

Frownland 04-19-2021 07:19 PM

I'm making fun of your boomer reductionism. The genius of the rock zeitgeist could similarly be described as someone just plucking some strings, playing a repetitive beat, and moving their voice up and down over it.

TheBig3 04-19-2021 07:27 PM

My generation gave you everything

Yeah I thought it was nice background music. I was thinking of incorporating it into my massage soundtrack playlist.
