Hardstyle

Anyone here a fan? Just as a quick explanation : it's in essence a mix of hard trance and hardcore and utilizes heavy basslines and/or heavy kicks. It is also quite commonly "dark" or at least it once was.. until artists starting making it very accessible. Nowadays we have nu style.. which I hate. OK back on topic: it started around 2003 when hard trance got more and more aggressive until people started adding hardcore elements and then hardstyle was born. Then hard trance artists like Scot Project and Cosmic Gate started producing tech trance because they weren't interested in hardstyle. Just a run down of the history and most well known songs..

Showtek are great, but that's pretty much it as far as my knowledge of hardstyle goes (if they even are hardstyle - I think so?). I'll look into all the artists you provided videos for - can you recommend any good DJ mixes or unmixed compilations?

FETCHER. 08-19-2009 06:52 PM

yeah i quite like showtek, alpha twins, blutonium boys & thats all i can really think of right now, it is 2am though :(:))

FETCHER. 08-20-2009 06:03 PM

FETCHER. 09-08-2009 06:26 PM

aye a looked it up he is :)

Matt122 11-12-2009 11:26 PM

First post here, but I figured Id start off in the hardstyle thread. I like alot of the new hardstyle. Cant really post post any links since im new, but here are a few of my favorites.

Davide Sonar - Believe
The Nasty Boyz - We Are Still Awake (2 best enemies remix)
Wildstylez - Push That Feeling (tons of bass which I love)
Tatact - Taaac (Renato Mix)

CanwllCorfe 11-13-2009 07:38 PM

Ahh so you're more a fan of nu style.. or just new hardstyle?

Examples:

Nu style

New hardstyle

Matt122 11-16-2009 09:02 PM

I would have to say nu style is what I like more, but I havent been listening to hardstyle for a long time so I dont know all the categories. Always interested in hearing some new stuff.

Shoe 11-28-2009 02:54 PM

I don't know if it's wrong to say it but I really dig nu style. The darker stuff is just harder to get into for me.
Headhunterz
Wildstylez
Technoboy
Donkey Rollerz
Noisecontrollerz

Those are my favorite artists.

Matt122 12-08-2009 02:03 PM

Yeah, I like Wildstylez, Headhunterz, and Noisecontrollerz too. Hardstyle must not be all that popular. Its not getting nearly the amount of posts it deserves. Anyways, I got some more tracks that I thought were great. Enjoy.

D-Block & S-Te-Fan feat McVillain - Sound of the Thunder
Tuneboy - Sexbusters (Scope Dj mix)
Hardstyle Masterz ft Max Enforcer - Rambo is a Pussy
Dj Stephanie - Black High Heels

What's wrong with a good old-fashioned s at the end of a name? When you list those artist names together, it kind of looks a bit ridiculous to me

The first 2 really have Zs.. the others don't. It's kind of a long standing joke we have on Global Hardstyle. We make up names like Brainpusherz, Mindhaterz, etc. It's all kind of funny. Someone actually joined the site to promote their new project Brainsliderz

abdullah424 12-08-2009 05:18 PM

I just listened to Bodycall - Mechanically Recovered Meat. The tags classify it as dark electro. Any recommendations of groups with a similar energy and feel to them?

I don't know much about that stuff.. doesn't sound too electro and more like EBM. Try this random video I got from YouTube by looking up EBM

The closest I get to that stuff is a weird Finnish Industrial band by the name of Ruoska

abdullah424 12-08-2009 05:58 PM

Thanks man.

The first one was a bit too heavy for me but I'm definately going to track down some of Ruoska's music.

Oh yeah...here's a sample of bodycall if anybody's interested.

imaduck13 12-04-2010 03:16 PM

I never really listened to much hardstyle other than a little Showtek (**** the system is classic), but what I've heard I've mostly liked although it does get a bit repetitive.

Donutix 12-09-2010 02:23 AM

I'm not a fan of hardstyle.. But i hear it sometimes.. I heard only hardstyle for a few years ago..

I like Headhunterz, Noisecontrollers And DJ Zany.. :)

CanwllCorfe 03-13-2011 02:33 PM

I was surprised when I heard this one:

I haven't heard gated kicks like this in Hardstyle for a couple years now!

Unheilig does too. And a lot of other bands haha :D I don't listen to Ruoska at all anymore. Not for a couple years actually.

FETCHER. 03-13-2011 07:13 PM

'CAUSE THERE AINT NO HARDER HARDER STYLE!!!!!

Moo 03-18-2011 02:00 AM

A video of a little kid dancing got me into hardstyle, havn't seen it in a while.

He was rocking out so hard I couldn't resist lol

Narasakue 03-26-2011 12:48 PM

Headhunterz - power of the mind got me into hardstyle, it's a beast

CanwllCorfe 03-26-2011 01:56 PM

MAAAAASSSSIVE

LOLPOCALYPSE 05-17-2011 09:55 AM

Headhunterz is easily my favorite hardstyle. Fear Of The Dark, The Sacrifice, Power Of The Mind, Hate It Or Love It, Let The Bass Kick (Headhunterz Remix), Rock Civilization, and D-Tuned are just a few of my favorite songs. I also like the Headhunterz & Wildstylez VS Noisecontrolers song "Famous"

Ahh. I'm a fan of the heavier stuff.

Speaking of which, I found a label that was just established last year and the ONLY stuff they have is heavy shit.

I was REALLY surprised by B-Front's latest. No pitched kicks, a lot of distortion, really dark, etc. He's turned a corner hopefully.. that song he did with Ran-D was bullshit. Anthemic, cheesy, and not even close to being hard.

EDIT: Here's what I'm talking about:

Robin333 06-15-2011 11:35 AM

My favorite hardstyle is definitely from Dj coone, D-block and s-te-fan and Brennan heart! They are really awesome and therefore I was really suprised that I didn't see them on this thread yet, maybe they're not hard enough? I don't know :)
One of my favorite songs is sound of thunder from d-block & s-te-fan. I can't post links yet but really check them out!

FETCHER. 06-15-2011 02:43 PM

2:14. Used to listen to this ALOT when I was like 14, forgot all about Coone tbh.

That first B-Front song and Malfunction were great!
