Default Electronic Appreciation Thread

Alright, this thread is paying tribute to the band consisting of New Order frontman Bernard Sumner & Smiths' guitarist Johnny Marr.

Active during the 1990s, they released three albums;
'Electronic' (1991), 'Raise The Pressure' (1996), 'Twisted Tenderness' (1999).

Their first album was the most successful but for me the latter is their best.
The album cover features a picture of Rasputin on the front & was the first I bought.
I since backtracked and got the other two but to me they fail to live up to the energy and kick ass tunes on 'Twisted Tenderness' for me.

Since then Johnny Marr has done his band 'The Healers' whom I didnt particularly like & also guested on Modest Mouse's latest album (which I thoroughly enjoyed).
As for Bernard Sumner, he has released more New Order albums which were quite surprisingly good ; 'Get Ready' (2001) &
'Waiting For The Siren's Call' (2005) I really enjoyed.

P.S. I know i'm probably one of the only people to even bother about this group, but if there are any like-minded people out there then I'd like to hear from you!

Alright man, I cant find any other videos on youtube of their stuff off 'Twisted Tenderness' which is pretty much the only album of theirs I really like.
There is other videos off the first album in particular but aint too good.

The featured song in the video is 'Can't Find My Way Home'- one of the more chilled out tracks on the 'Twisted Tenderness' album but is very representative of the style and feel of the album.
Id recommend you download the full album here: Electronic - Twisted Tenderness | Electronic Twisted Tenderness | isoHunt - the BitTorrent and P2P search engine
Let us know how you get on!

I own exactly one song by Electronic, "Disappointed" from the Cool World soundtrack, but I've always liked that song.

lol I aint even got that song (+ I got all 3 albums), its shocking how theres such a lack of material on youtube (especially from TT).
I think the Twisted Tenderness was there most unpopular album and lowest selling, which is so ironic when its such a great album.

It sounds like the guy from the Pet Shop Boys on lead vocals, is it Neil Tennant ?
I am aware they collabarated with him in their early stages.
Not a bad track though but not really the proper Electronic as I see them as such (Im used to Bernard Sumner on vocals).

I have Electronic's debut, which is a bit of a mixed bag to me. There are some brilliant songs like Idiot Country, Patience Of a Saint and Getting Away With It. Soviet is a beautiful instrumental as well. Unfortunately there are a few weaker moments on there to balance things out (I'd have to give it a proper listen again to name names, which I haven't done in yonks). I do remember making a wishlist on amazon years ago with Twisted Tenderness on it, but I never got round to buying it. I'd actually completely forgotten about it 'til I saw this thread as well.

Oh yeah lol Ive had an amazon wishlist for a long time, I actually got it finished at one point but then started listening to all these new artists and genres of music Id never thought Id be listening to in a million years & its full to the gunnels again (about 300 odd things lol).

Good to know Ive reminded you, I bought the album from amazon marketplace only cost me about £1 odds intotal, is stilll going for same price.
I didnt expect it to be that good to be honest I just bought it because it was that cheap but prepare to be amazed when you hear it for the first time.

Also your right about the debut, there are some pretty good tracks on it but to me all their other works pale in comparison to Twisted Tenderness.
