Need help understanding Electronica.
So i looked on this forum section for a post explaining the different genres and sub-genres of Electronica but there's not one on here. So could someone help me understand all the sub-genres like techno, trance, etc. Really the only electronica bands I listen to is Shiny Toy Guns, Freezepop, E-Type, Alex C, and The Whip. Could someone also recommend some good bands to me? And im really wanna get into rock-electronia bands.

well I started a bulletin on trance, so that should explain THAT. haha. i'm not sure of electronica bands. although I do know Jeremy Dawson and Chad Petree used to make trance and progressive house under aliases like Slyder and Cloud2Ground. they also had R.R.D.S. but they only made one song under it (Innerbattle), and a mix of their own song Neo (The One) under Slyder. which happens to have the same lyrics as their version with Shiny Toy Guns. well, the chorus at least.

Prodigy is a pretty popular choice for 'rock-electornica' bands I'd guess.
If you want something harder that sorta mixes those 2 things then you might like Lords of Acid...especially their Voodoo-U cd. Also, kinda on a side note, I've found that quite a few metal-head friends of mine enjoyed dark drum and bass like Dieselboy, when I hooked em up. So maybe check out his 'Dungeon Master's Guide' cd if you have the time and like metal too. |
