A dub remix usually consists of a track stripped of it's vocals and then reverb and echo are added to the track and yes it is it's own genre originally derived from Reggae. These days though a dub mix from outside of the Reggae genre is a little less delineated and can incorporate Electronica and loops/samples.

though the term gets tossed around now, like Crookers doing a "Dub" fix of Day N Nite, and it most certainly wasn't dub style
