Trance is an example of a genre that needs to change its name. People just associate badd things with the name.

I don't understand. I thought Progressive House was a sub-genre of Trance. So where do you draw the line between what is Trance and not? Honest question--just want to understand...

YouTube - Aly & Fila - Lost Language (Armin Only 2008) : this would be an example of a song really uplifting and you can tell by the crowd reaction when the break comes, everyones arms are in the air and it's very euphoric YouTube - Kirsty Hawkshaw meets Tenishia - Outsiders (Jose Amnesia remix) HQ : this is a song that's kind of in the middle between progressive house and progressive trance. it has the tempo and smoothness of house, but the atmosphere of a trance song YouTube - Bad Boy Bill - Behind The Decks LIVE Trailer : this is the epitome of house, it's more dance oriented. kinda like funky, grinding, sex music YouTube - [Full] Andy Blueman - Sea Tides (Original Mix) : Andy Blueman makes quite energetic AND emotional tracks. especially the breaks (the gentle parts in the middle) hope I helped! YouTube - Melleefresh & Deadmau5 - Hey Baby (Original Mix) : Deadmau5 is very big in both the house, and trance genres. he delves into house more, but some songs could be considered neo trance, which is a new kind of trance. check out his song Brazil to see what I mean. Kyau & Albert along with Inpetto and Myon & Shane54 are considered to be producers in this new genre. even though Kyau & Albert have been around way before this term was thought up Last edited by CanwllCorfe; 02-22-2009 at 08:27 PM. |

Thanks for explanation, and especially the tracks. I suppose what has confused me in the past is that some artists have delved into both house and trance, as you explain; so I've tended to lump all music into trance with more or less "danceability." But, I get the distinction that you are making. Thanks again.

ahh yeah those are really good! coincidentally the first trance CD I ever owned was called Trance Classics, and now they kinda have a special place for me cause they were the first songs I'd ever heard. I loved every song on that CD
