I'm only into trance when I'm totally out of my mind stoned.
Otherwise, I'm like what the fuck is this?

Trance is an example of a genre that needs to change its name. People just associate badd things with the name.

Can anyone suggest trance like

DJ tiesto snow patrol - chasing cars remix
Flanders - Behind
Ercola - Every word

Is it trance, or techno, which is limited to sexual themed lyric's?

Ahh if you like Armin van Buuren and Sander Kleinenberg then you are more into progressive house which is Trance's closest relative.

I don't understand. I thought Progressive House was a sub-genre of Trance. So where do you draw the line between what is Trance and not? Honest question--just want to understand...

oh I'd be glad to explain :) house is it's own genre. and is quite popular here in the US along with dance. theres all kinds of it. progressive house, electro house, italo house, tribal house, etc. it is much slower and calmer than trance, well, except for progressive trance. progressive trance and progressive house are very closely related and are really hard to tell apart. house is much more simple and less energetic. it is more club oriented and smooth. it's good for like a party in New York City, it's good background music. it's not loud or brash or anything. trance tends to have more energy and producers are more apt to be emotionally expressive. for example, Andy Blueman made an "Emotional" mix for his song called Everlasting and Daniel Kandi makes so called "Emotional" remixes for tracks like Kiholm's Fragile and Ralpha's Pandora.

YouTube - Aly & Fila - Lost Language (Armin Only 2008) : this would be an example of a song really uplifting and you can tell by the crowd reaction when the break comes, everyones arms are in the air and it's very euphoric

YouTube - Kirsty Hawkshaw meets Tenishia - Outsiders (Jose Amnesia remix) HQ : this is a song that's kind of in the middle between progressive house and progressive trance. it has the tempo and smoothness of house, but the atmosphere of a trance song

YouTube - Bad Boy Bill - Behind The Decks LIVE Trailer : this is the epitome of house, it's more dance oriented. kinda like funky, grinding, sex music

YouTube - [Full] Andy Blueman - Sea Tides (Original Mix) : Andy Blueman makes quite energetic AND emotional tracks. especially the breaks (the gentle parts in the middle)

hope I helped!

that's more house. as I mentioned, house is very heavy on the whole sexual theme, which is fine! sex is great stuff. here's an example :

YouTube - Melleefresh & Deadmau5 - Hey Baby (Original Mix) : Deadmau5 is very big in both the house, and trance genres. he delves into house more, but some songs could be considered neo trance, which is a new kind of trance. check out his song Brazil to see what I mean. Kyau & Albert along with Inpetto and Myon & Shane54 are considered to be producers in this new genre. even though Kyau & Albert have been around way before this term was thought up

Thanks for explanation, and especially the tracks. I suppose what has confused me in the past is that some artists have delved into both house and trance, as you explain; so I've tended to lump all music into trance with more or less "danceability." But, I get the distinction that you are making. Thanks again.

ahh yeah those are really good! coincidentally the first trance CD I ever owned was called Trance Classics, and now they kinda have a special place for me cause they were the first songs I'd ever heard. I loved every song on that CD
