Jarre
Jean Michele Jarre is the master of electronica. he started in the late 60's and is still going strong today with his most recent release teo & tea, which has a sweet trance feel to it. his stuff isnt for everyone, but is definately good in its own respect. i have oxygene on vinyl. =D
i reccomend him to anybody interested in more symphonic or experimental electronica. |
One of my favorite bands/composers/etc. He's definately a major influence on the electronic (note: not electronica, as such genre doesn't exist) music scene.
It's always a pain to classify him. I think he's the closest to berlin school, but he's not German like the rest of them (Schulze, Tangerine Dream..). My favorite is "Industrial Revolution (1,2,3)" - live 1989 Destination Docklands. He plays a shortened version of all 3 parts together. I think it's his most "thunderous" piece. My other favorites are Equinoxe IV, Magnetic Fields II, Oxygen VIII, C'est La Vie, Skin Paradox. I love his music. |
He's OK but there is far better Electronica out there, specifically the stuff that was part of and evolved from krautrock.
