The Intro - Starts off with a nostalgic mash-up of classic Wiley tracks like Wot Do U Call It? and Eskimo. Bits of the Wot Do U Call It? documentary thrown in. The track is quite reflective of Wiley's life and career, the production is quite good, got some high pitched sample over it. First Class - 3 vets all together (kano, Lethal B and obviously Wiley). Starts of quite Grimey but as the beat kicks in as Lethal starts spraying, there's a slight Trap influence. I'm not a fan of Trap in Grime and lingo like 'swag'. Leave it to the Americans. The concept is OK, all the MC's do alright but I think Wiley has the best verse on this. Kano sprays better than he has done for a while and no sign of the American twang in his accent. That's good. Skill Zone - Good line up, Ghetto, Manga, Frisco and Scratchy spray on here as do the young MC's Shizznit (now known as Big Shizz) and Griminal. Didn't know Double S still made music! The production is like a hybrid of a classic Eski Wiley beat and new wave style Grime. Upon hearing Griminal it's clear he's fell off badly, Manga's flow sounds fresh but he isn't really saying much. Ghetto's voice sounds rough and is very reminiscent of his last verse on Buss 1 from Freedom of Speech, however the bars don't go as well over this production. Frisco mentioning Twitter, great . Shizz's voice sounds like it's finally broken, he sprays nice. Scratchy has the best verse on this but nobody really impresses that much. Hands in the Air - Not that bad considering the features (Tulisa, can't stand her), clearly gone for a radio friendly Hip-Hop sound. Ice Kid makes a rare appearance on here and shows why he was so highly rated back in 2007. Reload - I'm sure everyone has already heard this, it's not what I want to hear from Wiley but at least it's not utter cheese as is the norm when a Grime MC releases a single aimed at the mainstream charts. Chipmunk still thinks he's an American, too much emphasis on the punchlines and similies which are weak and the arrogance in his flow doesn't work. Chainsaw - More Trap, yay Manchester MC Wrigz (FKA Wrigley) makes a cameo here, does OK I guess, nothing mindblowing. The hook on this track is quite nauseating. Production is lacklustre. Grime legend J2K actually goes in and redeems the track somewhat. Wiley's verse is typical catchy Wiley. Heatwave - Not reviewing, everyone has heard it. Do not want. So Alive - This is better, it's OK for pop-sounding Hip-Hop. Never heard this 2nd MC spit before but he's OK and North American. 3rd MC is another American, does alright I guess. Cringed at "haters" at the end though. Lights On - This is shit, sounds like something off one of those Clubland CD's ffs Wiley spits on it. I guess that's something. This track is absolute cheese though, I'm surprised he's made this as I don't think it's gonna be a single. The beat doesn't sound like something Wiley would produce either, but it actually is. Tinchy is on here too, meh (I like Tinchy and all, but, meh.) Can You Hear Me - Not gonna bother with this, don't rate JME or Skepta at all and I'm sure everyone's heard this if you're interested in this album. Tomorrow - Sounds like watered down Trap. It's OK I guess, starting to feel quite underwhelmed by this album but have to remember this isn't the album he cares about. It's his Pop album. Megaman from So Solid spits, does OK, not being impressed by the features is a recurring theme on this album. Wiley's lyric "Describe yourself in one word - Grime" is quite funny considering the beat selection. My Heart - Like chilled out Funky House. The hook is VERY annoying. Emeli Sande sings it. It's shit. Don't like this American fella on here either. His sluggish flow is very irritating. This is one of the worst tracks on this album. Humble Pie - This is good, the production is very good, chilled out spacey Hip-Hop, produced by Kid D, a producer I rate very highly. Wiley's bars are pretty good. Flow is tight. This is the best track on here so far. Ninja - It's ****. Don't like the beat or Wiley's flow. Broken Thoughts - Sounds like another Kid D instrumental but this isn't on the official track list. I'm assuming this was just what was on Wiley's computer when he had his tantrum and leaked the album. Summary: Underwhelming album tbh but that's what I expected given this is his Pop album and it wasn't aimed at me. I think it'll be successful, or at least it would have been had he not leaked it. He's said his next album (Snakes & Ladders) will be his Grime album and I get the impression that's the one he actually cares about. If you liked the singles, you will definitely like this album. If you're a Grime fan this isn't for you, although it's not as bad as you'd expect compared to past Wiley 'crossover' albums (See Clear Now). 5/10 (and the 5 is me being impartial). Gonna stick Treddin' On Thin Ice on and remind myself why I love Wiley so much Last edited by Cuthbert; 03-22-2013 at 01:50 AM. |

Not sure if Titch has been mentioned in this thread but he deserves to be. My favourite MC (with Wiley, Dizzee and H also). Grime for me is about energy and was an outlet for male aggression and he encapsulates that and everything I love about Grime perfectly. Genuine nutcase and it comes across in his music.
*Conflict DVD* (Dizzee Rascal and Crazy Titch Hype) - YouTube Classic **** ^ Crazy Titch - (Dizzie Rascal Diss) Just An Arsehole - YouTube This was better than Dizzee's vocal ironically ^ Conflict DVD (Part 3) HD - YouTube lol from 1:40 when Wiley gives him the mic and he just goes off on one, can tell everyone is scared of him. Crazy Titch - Do Some Work [Pussy] (Produced By Mr.Slash) [FULL] - YouTube Crazy Titch - I Can C U (music video) - YouTube Absolute stone cold classic ^ |

So Big H and Wiley are now going at each other.
H fired some shots at Wiley today: Big H - Shoot Him Dead (send for Wiley) - YouTube If this gathers pace it could be the most exciting thing to come from the scene in the last two years or so. Just hope Wiley retaliates. |

Best of Family Tree 2010/11 - YouTube Thought I'd post this, I made it a while ago cos Family Tree were the best in Grime that year and it's the epitome of Grime music, I took the best reloads from all the radio sets and appearances they did during 2010/11 and uploaded them. Live music is where it's at with Grime, Dizzee's first album was a brilliant exception to the rule; Grime's intention was never to produce a retail product, it was just an outlet for male aggression and this video epitomises it spectacularly. Live music, aggression, hype and reloads galore. Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7a_v_eV1rM Forgot this, this was fucking disgusting. Last edited by Cuthbert; 08-25-2013 at 06:54 PM. |
