Burial
There were a couple of posts about these but no thread so here goes. Hailing from London, Burial's identity is not known. Why the annonimity I do not know. When I first heard the album UNTRUE I was not too impressed. most of the songs have the same beats and structure but the more I listened the more I loved it. The album just has this lazy trippy vibe with a light dubstep. Fans of Massive Attack and Portishead would dig them. Perfect for smoking (if that's your bag!)

Give them another chance and listen to the album as a whole piece. I enjoyed it so much more. It gets better with every listen, it's a very subtle album.
|
yeah, this is a good album. it's not as good as the critics made out, but it has its place and was a worthy entry from 2007. it's great to drive to, on a very cold, gloomy, grim, rainy afternoon...

Everything Burial does is incredible. How one man can have such an ear for sculpting perfect little songs out of the kind of ridiculous stuff he samples is completely unknown to me.
|
Even then, I think a lot of dubstep by other artists is tonnes better.

I think he's fantastic. His music seems like a more 'fitting' definition of dubstep than people such as Skream (not to knock Skream at all.)

While I did enjoy his debut, Untrue bored me. It sounds exactly like Burial.
The fact that Untrue is the top album of 2007 on Metacritic doesn't help, either. |
I would'nt say it was the best album of 2007 by far and I rarely take any notice of best of lists-only on here are they worthy! Musically it is not spectacular. I just love the ambience of the whole album.

can't be ambient with percussions ^_^
but I get what you're saying. you like the ambiance of the album |
