Default M.I.A's last album

i loved her first one - 'galang' got me right away. such hard beats, and knowing she did them herself on a boss mc-505.

then her second album lost me, i didn't appreciate the laziness of "paper planes" just being a clash sample, wasn't into the "world music" touches either.

then when the third one was coming out, hearing that diplo dissed the tracks he didn't do, saying they "scared" him and that they "sounded like skinny puppy" made me scour the net for leaks. i heard a terrible rip of most of the album and was blown away. i ended up buying 7 tracks off amazon.

i think she got really out there and said/did what she wanted, and the audience sucked in by "paper planes" didn't get it. the violent video for "born free" made a point but also probably shocked and alienated that audience further. but she has my respect for making some great and uncompromising music.
