Faithless

The band you don't know but you do! A band that has taken staple dance music, repackaged it, added a few esoterical influences and voila! A dance band that has been on top of their game for over ten years. Last years TO ALL NEW ARRIVALS was a slight disappointment, but kudos to them for branching out and trying new sounds. Insomnia still sounds as good as the day it came out. I saw them in London in March and they still kicked arse. Any fans?
The short version (not the best version though):

jackhammer 12-09-2007 05:23 PM

Obviously no fans then! Check out the NO ROOTS album for some great acoustic lead tracks. More than just a dance band.

HUGE FAN OF FAITHLESS! I like just about everything they've ever done. Does anyone know of any groups/artist like them?

Vulphus 01-31-2008 04:02 AM

Yeah, Faithless are decent, never really got into the new album though. No matter what they do in the future, they'll always be remembered for Insomnia.

Seraphina 02-22-2008 07:18 PM

Faithless is one of those artists that I like when I hear them, but never keep listening.

wickedlk 11-11-2009 12:25 PM

Wow, I can't believe how little love there is/was for Faithless! They are up there with the greatest in dance. I'm pretty sure that almost everyone will have heard their biggest smashes such as Insomnia, God Is A DJ and We Come 1. I like the distinct vocals of Maxi and Sister Bliss on keys is pretty ****hot. If you get the chance to see them live, I would recommend that you go because they are pretty amazing!

My favourites of theirs:

Love the drama in this

Maxi's voice is pretty chilling I find

Got a few of their albums, they have an odd track which is really popular, but nobody really recoqnises anything outside from their popular songs. I'm actually shocked this thread isn't booming. Only thing I never liked about the insomnia version on their album it was far too long a wait to get into it, and dragged right in. It was a pain in the arse. Aside from that, why are your videos always blue?

You hit the little gear thing next to embed, pick the color you want, then copy and paste the embed code. Put the youtube tags around it and there you go!

wickedlk 11-12-2009 06:29 AM

Yeah, what Canwll said. You only need to configure it once and it'll do it for all future vids

FETCHER. 11-12-2009 06:31 AM

Yeah thats what I was wondering wither you had to do it everytime, or just the once :). I couldn't be arsed with all that :(

Guybrush 11-12-2009 06:34 AM

I bought their debut Reverence when it was cool in the 90s. I liked them back then, but I haven't really listened to them much since. Honestly, it's just not the sort of thing I like. I still know almost all the lyrics on their debut and can rap along to the title track :p: It shocked my girlfriend some time ago.

FETCHER. 11-12-2009 06:37 AM

Haha, I've not listened to much of their stuff except Reverence either, unless a song has been on a compilation album. But yeah the lyrics are very easy to remember, I could probably sing Insomnia and a few others right now. But I won't do that, I'll save everyones ears.

same here, but it's true art...

wickedlk 11-13-2009 06:10 PM

I forgot to ask earlier but does anyone like the debut track from their new album?

It's growing on me slowly.

Not bad. A little derivative but I'm sure it will sound great live. Let's hope they announce a tour cos I'm there!

You HAVE to see them live. I saw them 2 years back and it was a fantastic gig. Sometimes it's as much about the vibe than it is the music and Faithless absolutely rocked the place. I was bopping like a loon lol.

That video is awesome, gives me that goosebumps and butterflys feeling. I'd definetly go now. I think a gig with an amazing atmosphere are the best, ive been to events with not bad music and came out thinking it was the best gig i'd ever been to, simply because the atmosphere :) a good atmosphere definetly makes a gig :)

wickedlk 03-14-2010 04:33 AM

As Faithless are going to be doing the festival circuit in the summer, I think I shall be seeing them live at some point :)

Their latest work has taken a little while to get into but having AvB, Prydz and Herve on the remixes has helped greatly. My only criticism would be that it all takes too long to get going (maybe I'm just impatient).

jackhammer 05-30-2010 07:00 PM

New album out. Unsure so far but again they don't peddle the same old sound each album and branch out a little.

Anyone else heard it? Probably not!

downwardspiral 05-31-2010 01:55 AM

Not heard it yet, although I've heard a preview of one of the songs (I think it's called The Dance) and it was pretty good. Faithless used to be amazing though, Reverence and Outrospective are two of my favourite ever albums. So good.

noise 05-31-2010 02:38 AM

i grabbed it a few weeks ago when it first hit the net. gave it a cursory listen - the first few tracks almost scared me off, but then it settled into more familiar familiar sounds...

have yet to really sit down with it though, i keep getting distracted with other stuff :)

FETCHER. 06-01-2010 07:37 AM

The most depressing thing i've experienced this year is knowing im missing Faithless at a festival i couldve went to... :(:(

jackhammer 07-25-2010 06:51 PM

The new Faithless album is definitely a grower and getting better with every listen. Starting to REALLY like this album.

noise 07-25-2010 10:17 PM

well now i have to go pick it up again. i completely forgot it was out there.

i remember No Roots taking a while to grow on me. i'll throw this on my ipod now, give it a listen on the way to work.

they'll be in Budapest in a few weeks for the Sziget Festival, but i'm not sure i can justify 45 euro just to see them, there's not much else going on that particular day...

FETCHER. 08-02-2010 03:08 PM

I dıdnt even get the chance to lısten to ıt much before my ****ıng computer broke and ı lost ıt. I honestly could say that ı dont remember one song, thats bloody sad :(

lukewright 10-26-2010 06:51 AM

think they make great music something you can listen to all the time

Broski 10-27-2010 12:35 PM
