Justice

Anyone who doesn't love Justice can just go to hell, because these guys are seriously the shit. Their Waters of Nazareth EP is excellent, they're great DJs, and when they went to accept the award for the song they did with Simian ("We Are Your Friends" = song of the year), Kanye West ran over to complain. What's not to love?

EDITED: Accidentally called Justice Simian.

adidasss 12-09-2006 04:32 PM

Oh , I love We are your friends, will try to get the EP off of soulseek...
p.s. ok seriously, this is the most threads you've started since you've been here...I'm not complaining though...;)

I decided that this forum is very underappreciated (is that even a word? Firefox is telling me it isn't!) and deserved a few new threads to keep it going.

I'll upload the EP when this LCD Soundsystem upload is done if you can't find it.

adidasss 12-09-2006 05:15 PM

Nah, I found it, thanks though...will get back to you with the impressions...

IndiElectronica 12-15-2006 08:41 AM

very good stuff here... lacking quality sometimes... but always good stuff for the dancefloor...

just for kicks 02-08-2007 10:57 PM

i really like this. i heard we are ur friends and it really jumped out at me. cant wait to hear more of their stuff

Unijorn 11-08-2007 01:09 PM

Justice are definitely the best current electronic producers out there now. Heavily influenced by Daft Punk, they do justice to call themselves Daft Punk influenced.

wrong. Justice is the most overrated electronic act, period. "D.A.N.C.E" is a great single; the rest of Cross is bland at best. It all sounds the same; it appears they spent all their talent on aforementioned single. "We Are Your Friends" was also great, but they had help from Simian on that one.

On that note, Simian Mobile Disco is an infinitely better production team than Justice. Attack Decay Sustain Release trumps Cross in every arena; it has more variety, more depth, better hooks, and most importantly, is listenable all the way through. I find myself switching off Cross after three songs at best.

Got that album a while back, always thought "D.A.N.C.E." was one of the weaker tracks on the album. Really liked it overall though.

Justice is THE most overrated electronic act, PERIOD? A little far-fetched, but whatever. They didn't really have "help" from Simian, either, all they sampled for that song was the vocal (the best part of the original song).

I really don't see how Cross all sounds the same. Sure, their keyboards appear to only have like, two presets, but the album is much more diverse than the "Hey, wasn't 90s Dance music great?" stylings of Attack Decay Sustain Release. If you listen to SMD's album and much of their remixes, all of their songs have the exact same rave-revival vibe to them, while Justice has gone from hits like "We Are Your Friends" to "Waters of Nazareth" to "D.A.N.C.E" and back again.

No way are SMD better than Justice. You want to complain about a boring, lifeless, poorly-produced album, pick that one.

Lucy 11-10-2007 10:57 PM

Justice change with the times and evolve their music, I hate it when artists just keep the same thing.

My music taste changes within a genre. I love it when artist expiriment with their music.

Unijorn 11-14-2007 05:23 PM

overrated? perhaps. good? yes.

simian is good as well, but it doesn't make justice suck.
also, cross is not repetitive. i dunno where you got that from.

jackhammer 12-10-2007 02:30 PM

I'm listening to the Cross album at the moment. It is not exactly blowing me away so far.

O'Bannion 12-11-2007 01:52 AM

I heard D.A.N.C.E. months before his album and loved it. Was looking foward to the album so much and it was a complete disappointment.

jackhammer 12-11-2007 03:34 PM

Ok. I have listened and I found this to be extremely disappointing and quite amateurish in places. I am very surprised at the love for these.

O'Bannion 12-11-2007 03:48 PM

Yeah, I mean it's not terrible, it's just not very good.

adidasss 12-11-2007 04:31 PM

Best electro album of the year for me...:yeah:

Are you having a bubble?

adidasss 12-11-2007 04:34 PM

I have no idea what you just said, but I'm quite serious...:yeah:

jackhammer 12-11-2007 04:38 PM

Bubble-Bubble bath-laugh. I think it's decidedly average sub-par Daft Punk. It is not terrible but entirely forgettable.

adidasss 12-11-2007 04:45 PM

Ok, sorry to hear that, it's still the best electro album of the year for me...;)

Dizzys in the wolf 12-12-2007 03:18 PM

I don't see what everyone has against it, I thought + was one of the best albums i've heard in a long time. And the Kanye thing is just pure gold.

Duke Of Slander 12-12-2007 08:00 PM

One of my top albums of 2007. Seeing them live was spectacular too

jackhammer knows what he's talking about

for a real electo album check out Boys Noize's Oi Oi Oi. by far the electro release of the year

adidasss 12-15-2007 02:17 PM

Will do. :)

Oi Oi Oi isn't even that good, what's with all the Boys Noize hype all of a sudden? This is nowhere near the best Electro House album of the year, it's only slightly better than SMD & Digitalism's albums (and that's probably because Boys Noize worships Daft Punk more than Justice do).

You want a good album, try Surkin's Action Replay.

enemyat_thesix 12-16-2007 12:54 AM

Action Replay certainly is a great album; "Kiss and Fly" is definitely in the top 5 electro songs of 2007. I'll have to give the whole album another listen all the way through. However, it'll be hard to top Attack Decay Sustain Release, or Oi Oi Oi. Every song on the latter is a dance-floor anthem, and the Feist remix is one of the better remixes this year.

Action Replay I probably like a lot more because it's all songs I loved last year, just put together in an album with added remixes. Also, his stuff with Bobmo as High Powered Boys is pretty bomb.

The_Megatron 01-02-2008 09:22 PM

Defragging Justice-mp3s is a worthy task for my cpu.

enemyat_thesix 04-06-2008 12:27 AM

listen to something else

identti 04-19-2008 03:59 PM

I think Phantom Part II is amazing, especially when remixed by Soulwax.

Looking forward to experiencing a Justice performance first hand at Reading this summer.

British_pharaoh 04-20-2008 02:41 PM

I wanna see them live

but not a fan of their album

adidasss 04-20-2008 02:45 PM

Then why would you want to?

ohjessie 05-17-2008 08:01 PM

I think "D.A.N.C.E" is great and certainly not one of the weaker tracks, but that's just my opinion of course..

I totally agree with everything in this post. Except I think A Cross the Universe redeems them. If they would of put their live mix on Cross it would of been so much better.

IWP 04-16-2009 08:53 AM

Yeah Justice is awesome! They're one of the bands that got me into house music along with Daft Punk. My favorite songs from them are Genesis, Phantom Part 1 & 2, and their hits DANCE and DVNO. I actually had them one once when I was driving high, and it sort of felt like I was in a video game. It was pretty cool.

FETCHER. 08-09-2009 10:01 AM

justice - phantom & phantom prtII
amazing song, absolutely love it :)

Antonio 08-09-2009 10:07 AM

i like them :)

dispid 08-09-2009 07:09 PM

they are ok.

FETCHER. 12-26-2009 08:05 AM

I owe justice to you lot. If I hadn't joined I wouldn't have got into them, and they're one of my favourite groups. I want people to apreciate them more! haha.
