I can`t believe that an American hasn`t heard of Depeche Mode!!! They had some big selling albums there. They`re hugely popular in the UK and Europe.
The three definative albums are "Music for the Masses" "Violator" and "Songs of Faith and Devotion" the last is my fav as its the most rock orientated of the three and less electronic based than the rest of their material. Most fans tend to love "Black Celebration" All these albums are from their middle period and the best place to start. |

I always liked these guys, they have a very unique and distinctive/individual sound about their music, (politics, war, religion, etc.) |
