Ladytron

"Destroy everything you Touch" is a great song by this group..

Discuss?

adidasss 07-07-2006 12:39 AM

well yes, a great song, but quite honestly i downloaded two albums based on that one song and haven't really listened to them much....they didn't intrigue me....

Xplisit23 07-07-2006 12:41 AM

I'm not going to lie, I'm not a huge fan of the group, but there's something about this song.

adidasss 07-07-2006 12:43 AM

oh it's fantastic...no doubt...maybe i need to listen to the albums more...that track just stands out like a sore thumb...at this moment anyway....

bruise_violet 07-07-2006 07:36 AM

I really like that song, also International Dateline, I think it's called?

Ladytron are good, from what I have heard.

Urban Hat€monger ? 07-07-2006 07:40 AM

I`ve always though of Ladytron as Goldfrapp lite for some reason

hookers with machineguns 07-07-2006 12:39 PM

^ Word. I don't think Ladytron have ever had a song as catchy as Strict Machine, but still, I much prefer Ladytron over Goldfrapp anyday. I think most of the female-fronted electro/synth pop groups (for instance, similar bands like Client or Freezepop) have the same problem - they dont catch you right away...a lot of times, the beat is good, but the vocals get under your skin. Ladytron is actually one of the better ones. So unless you're a big electro nut like I am, these guys are just meh.

IndiElectronica 07-10-2006 03:55 AM

Ladytron is the best electro-clash band out there I think. And while their last album is their best musically, their better singles come from earlier albums...

Imonlydancing 07-10-2006 05:40 AM

I've heard a bit of Ladytron, i like it.

bruise_violet 07-10-2006 06:17 AM

They really aren't like anything else I listen to but there is just something about them.

Imonlydancing 07-10-2006 12:01 PM

Can someone email me some or something? I don't have a downloading programme :( and i can only listen to them on myspace, which is where i origionally heard them, ha.

Quite a few bands similar actually...

Adult. - winner of my most random concert. Was in Moscow for a business trip and randomly went to a club that they happened to be playing that night (didn't know till I got there). Female vocal

Amon Tobin - electro meets electronica. Female vocal

Annie - stright up electro. Female vocal

Chicks on Speed - electro on speed. Female vocal

Clinic - slight indie feel, but still very electro.

Division Kent - Still a very obscure band - akin to Goldfrapp. Female vocal

Dot Allison - akin to Goldfrapp. Female vocal

Felex da Housecat - akin to Miss Kitten. Female vocal

Lali Puna - more tune than synth, but certainly electro. Fist album to get is 'Faking the Books'. Female vocal

Le Tigre - Electro on speed. Female vocal

Miss Kittin - agree - a bit on the DJ side of electro.

The Knife - agree with this one too...

...that's just the female electro bands I can think of....

I love Le Tigre. Goldfrapp are quite good too, didn't they cover a Donna Summers song?

God i`ve not listened to him in years , he was a permenent fixture in my cd player around 2001/2002

IndiElectronica 07-18-2006 10:36 AM

dunno Donna Summers well enough to know if Goldfrapp covered a song... a few of my friends have seen her 4 times live now and LOVE her live... I keep missing her for one reason or another...

Clinic - agreed, last album was a bit pants!

Miss Kitten - It's fun music with a good beat. A few standout tracks is all in the end, but worth checking out :)

Ladytron really disappointed me live. One of the girl singers seemed to hate the audience.

Dark Circle 09-19-2007 08:39 PM

I love Ladytron, they have many good songs, but the best one is Soft Power. I can never get enough of it

=ladyface= 10-07-2007 04:11 PM

I only properly got into Ladytron in the summer last year. I'm so glad I bothered, though. Paco! is such a cool song.

sugarspellitout 11-17-2007 10:06 PM

Ladytron are awesome. They're my second favorite band.

I'd have to say that my favorite song is tender talons.

British_pharaoh 04-29-2008 12:10 PM

Their new album is great

MySpace.com - Ladytron - Liverpool, UK - Electro / New Wave / Other - www.myspace.com/ladytron

full album online ^^^^^^

Dystopia 05-20-2008 10:38 AM

Ladytron is okay.
They're not the type of band that makes me love all their music, just a couple songs.
Namely Seventeen and Destroy Everything You Touch.
The rest of their stuff is just...boring.
But I can listen to those two songs for hours.

supremepenguin 05-30-2008 01:59 AM

I just started listening to ladytron today but so far i like them

British_pharaoh 05-30-2008 05:51 AM

Witching Hour album = the shizzle

can't believe I sold my tix to see them

especially since the reason I had to sell them was no longer an obstacle to me going.

and to make it worse the guy I sold them to on ebay emailed me to tell me how brilliant they were

dlck

vinylhasmorefun 08-20-2008 11:09 AM

One of my most favorite bands. I was lucky enough to see them live this summer, it was a great show. I was skeptical about their latest album, but I was pleasantly suprised when I heard it, almost every song is really good.

thierry 08-23-2008 03:20 PM

I agree that destroy everything you touch is one of the best.
Also ghosts is a wicked song. Overall i would rate the album velfalcro (spelling :S ) 7.5/10. this is coming from a ladytron fan:D

Great song! I think Light & Magic is their best overall album though.

Traveling Bandsman 08-27-2008 07:50 PM

Ah, I love Ladytron, I have their latter two albums, they're amazing.

I really like Destroy Everything You Touch, Sugar, Seventeen, Evil, Ghosts...a few others.

yungpunk 08-31-2008 11:32 AM

I've not listened to much of their stuff but what I've heard I've liked.

British_pharaoh 09-09-2008 05:20 PM

going to see them soon

along with The Whip

everyone should check them out too

they were great at Reading

DragHustler 09-17-2008 02:27 PM

I enjoy them. Though most of their music sounds relatively alike. It's all somewhat entertaining.

Scissorman 12-05-2010 06:02 AM

I just rediscovered Ladytron <3

Goblin Tears 12-05-2010 07:13 AM

I love this song:

chthonicstreams 02-10-2012 09:53 AM

I love Light & Magic and Witching Hour, but since then I haven't been so thrilled, sorry to say.

People should check this out, there's some great stuff on it.

Engine 02-10-2012 11:59 AM

True.
And for the lazy, I'll explain that Softcore Jukebox is a complilation made by Ladytron that includes only 2 of their own songs. 'Blue Jeans 2.0' is especially good.
Here's the other one:

TheNiceGuy 02-18-2012 05:57 AM

I don't know too much about the band bar a few songs, but the name is great! ;)
