Default small towns no choice of music

Anyone else find that the few clubs near them wont take the risk of opening an alternative dance music night rather than playing the same old chart stuff?

so true, when i go stay with my family in scotland in the middle of no where there are never any rock venues for miles around and the local music shop seems to assume that every single person in the world does listen to either classical music or cliff richard lol!!!

I live in a relatively large town (Reading UK) and only 2-3 nights a week where I would ever go out too.. of which only one is a decent 'indie' night. After the holidays I'm hoping to start a club night of my own even to remedy this... People with taste in music need somewhere to go on Fri/Sat!!

I live in a small town hugging the front range of Colorado's mighty Rocky Mountains...
They don't have ****. I have to burn CD's and take them to my favorite bartenders and beg for some much needed play time. Maybe its a good thing I'm moving?
