electronica?

Ive never heard it really, but I do like the godfathers of dark electronic music. that being depeche mode and NIN.

PanicAttack 11-18-2005 09:23 AM

You could try getting some Depeche Mode remixes. They have been mixed by all kinds of different artists: Timo Maas, Goldfrapp, Air, Danny Tenaglia, Speedy J, Andrea Parker... that covers a bit there.

There's also NIN remixes by Aphex Twin, but supposedly none of the source material was used for the 2 mixes (I love you Richard D. James).

Although not exactly electronic, old Sisters of Mercy had quite strong atmospheres in their songs. And they used drum machines and synthesizers so I guess they're as electronic as Depeche Mode in a way :)

bungalow 11-21-2005 11:38 AM

it is a referance to your ability and skill when on your computer

PanicAttack 12-05-2005 01:15 PM

Okay . . . yeah Mindless Self Indulgence are crazy, I had the chance to go to one of their shows and passed. (There's a great but unknown remix of Bitches by µ-Ziq, by the way for anyone who cares)

Tangerine Dream are wicked but may be a little too old school

Where would one find Mr. Paradinas' remix of this track?

crimepartner 12-06-2005 12:36 PM

I listened to the electronica station on sirius and it just sounded like rave music... Is that what electronica is? no offense, I like synth music, but It didnt sound that original... I listen to depeche mode alittle and nin, but I doubt they are considered electronica.. does anyone know any good electric - like bands that are kinda dark, but have strong bass?

the definition 12-06-2005 01:40 PM

Maybe not a band, but look into Squarepusher's entire collection. He was classically trained as a bassist, and still playes it live. He also has the most talented understanding of electronic sound (in my opinion) in the business.
Good starts may be these albums:
Feed Me Wierd Things
Hard Normal Daddy
Big Loada

Maybe also look into Plaid, a little more "band" oriented, but still electronic.
