I didn't say anything before, but buddy got blasted in a review I read, and I was surprised when I listened to it. The beats are tight and way more interesting than others. Prefuse 73 Reads the Books EP how does that sound? the Books are an indie band?

I have the new one and don't rate it too much... to much rap for my tastes... that the case for the other albums?

Oh my, a 4-post thread about Prefuse 73.

New album announcement was made a while ago, but a track was posted today (though it sounds like a sampler/medley to me, with the multiple fades throughout).

List to/download it here: Prefuse 73 ? The Only She Chapters - download The Only Hand To Hold feat. Shara Worden

Prefuse 73 - The Only She Chapters (April 25 UK)

This record is a weird one for me. The process features all women vocalists and voices and the music was recorded very differently from how I normally work. This can be seen as a departure from other albums but it's not a departure intended to leave people feeling alienated or baffled. It's just a different way to interpret my music and it's an open invitation for anyone that wants to listen.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I totally just got One Word Extinguisher and it's amazing! I've downloaded like 4 of his albums but OWE is the only one i've heard all the way through. I think my next is gonna be his newest. He does get pretty bad reviews some places, but I still have high hopes.

I hope you're not expecting anything near OWE in the new album. I don't mean that in a bad way, I just mean that they couldn't be more different. You should get Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives and Extinguished: Outtakes.

I actually have both of those too Maybe I'll go for VS+UN then if that's the case. How is the latest different? Is it less hip hopish?

Totally less hip-hopish. In fact it's not really hip hop at all. Very ambient/atmospheric. Even feels a little droney at times. It's not unlike anything he's ever done before (as Prefuse or other aliases), but it's the first time he's done a full album of it and it's the biggest departure from his trademark style under his primary alias. It's well done, you just can't go into it expecting something like he's done in the past or you'll likely be disappointed.
